I hope everyone isn't getting lazy because it's summer and going outside and doing other activities which are less important than poker.

Let's set those goals and crush them.

July's graph

Volume Goal: 10k hands.
WR Goal: >1bb/100
Study goals: Probably will spend more time reviewing my database than watching videos or reading. Will have a busy semester in college that has priority over poker.

Hit all goals last month. Didn't have tilting sessions, just few tilted hands. Didn't start spewing, even when i was frustrated. Took some shots at 100 which went well. Worked on my game quite a lot.
Undecided whether i want to keep playing 50 or go straight into 100. Bankroll is allowing shots, but i might grind up to 30 BI just to be sure.

Goals for August:
[ ] Finish 2 courses. AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. No excuses and slacking.
[ ] 30k hands
[ ] Professional attitude towards grinding. No whining if things don't go well. Long term mindset rather than short term
[ ] Take full advantage of Pokerstrategy platinum status.

In for August.
Got my roll up to $200 in July, didn't make 10000 hands, but almost lol. Read Harrington on online cash games and started Harrington on cash games V1 ( not too sure about this book, say's limping is an OK play a lot of the time).

July's giraph.

[IMG][/IMG]

Took a 4 buy in shot at nl5 and got slaughtered, couple of cooler's, some bad calls ect so time to try and get back to $200 and try again.

Goals for this month.

[ ] 10.000 hands.

[ ] Read the poker book im on.

[ ] try another 5nl shot if BR allows.

Post what you like my friend, although most people ITT play NLHE with a smattering of PLO here and there I'd say

This thread also ends up being a bit of a BQ regs thread where you can post hands knowing who's providing the advice back for you

You can also talk about bacon and titties...

Usually the first pages (first days of the month) we post previous montht's results and goals. After that usually hands are posted for review, comments on strategy, or not even poker related topics.

It's kind of a place to 'hang out'.

I'm joining in,i have started playing cash games last month, started with a 47$ roll,i didnt have a hud/tracker software, but had a major heater where i went up 15BI in 10k hands, lost it all+some more in the next 2days,some badbeats that made me go on tilt rampage.

My goals for this month are:

-Play atleast 30k of hands at NL2 zoom
-Review each session right after and share some poker hands on the forum to get the perspectives of others.
-Read atleast 1 up to date book, focusing on cash games
-Implement a stop loss of 4BI
-Maybe try another poker site apart from stars, with decent nl2-nl5 traffic(a fast poker option like zoom, would be great becouse of my current setup),any suggestions are welcome
-Hopefully post a nice graph, nearing the end of the month

Good luck to all

Let's do this
30h, 8k hands, still on 1 tier. Well, that went well lol. tbh, I played a lot on another site + had major internet problems for a week + was out every weekend so volume isn't that big of a problem. But the quality of my sessions I hope has improved.

August:

[] Finish MGOP
[] Play 15k hands
[] At least two coaching sessions
[] Post at least 15 hands ITT to improve me hand reading
[] Stay away from NL25 for now
[] Win

I'm a novice obviously. But I have a lot of time for my poker now. So I'll join in.
I'm going for 5k hands on 0.02/0.04 Fixed.

I decided to focus on one hold'em variant. Fixed limit. While I study the game. I hope that is the right move.

Yeah it's the right move but why would you pick limit?
August Beginners' Bankroll Thread Quote

I'm naturally timid. (I'm working on it) I'm more likely to take the plus eV move when it isn't costing a whole buy in.
I think limit suits my conservative nature.
Variance concerns me when the swings are larger. (Again. Working on it.) I like a low Variance game.

Unless you can tell me some good reasons to play no limit. I like 6 max but again I think full ring suits a conservative play style. So I play full ring. I worry that everyone seems to be playing 6 max and think I'm missing a trick.

Play full ring or 6max, they're essentially the same game. 6max is more popular as you're playing more hands more often as you don't have the other 3 seats where you are tightest from.

I just can't imagine limit runs at any half decent stakes anymore (could be wrong) and nl is still very juicy. If you're worried about swings and stuff then play a lower stake of NL imo. You can be rolled easily for 2nl with $100 and imo if $100 is too much for you to play around with you shouldn't be playing poker.

Getting over swings and learning to make +EV plays even if they are high variance takes time. And tbh the skills you learn from poker about the mental game are so awesome for everyday life.

But it is your choice and if you're just wanting to play for a bit of fun without putting in a huge amount of work on anything then play what you enjoy the most.

You can normally find up to $5/$10 6max or $1/$2 Ring on stars.
The lower stakes have lots of tables running day and night.
I'm playing micro at the moment because unlike many poker players I accept the fact that I suck. And in reality I probably suck more than that. The time that I will worry about not finding a big enough game is a long way off.

They worry is: that if I do make a decent player out of my self in a few years. Will limit have declined to a point where I can't find a game. At which point I'll have to swap to No Limit any way.

Bad spot to do this? AKo is not a hand that I'm particularly happy to play OOP multiway.

UTG was 25/21 over 25 hands.
    MP1 24/16 over 30 hands.
MP2 had a note 'calls/fold pre (3)' (he called a raise or limped pre and folded when someone else raised 3 times). He was playing 12/0 over 23 hands.
