Setting monetary goals isn't the best idea. You can't control how good you run so even if you play the best poker you possibly can you may still be disappointed in the end when you don't hit your goal.

Set goals for time spent studying or play X amount of hands/tournies.

My goal for this month, is to break the downswing i have been having, by keeping working on my game and playing my best, all whilst accepting that "**** happens". Would be great if i could finally become a lot more solid at 25NL. (Very swingy atm).

I don't think its easier, and there is a LOT more to consider. It is definitely true that you can have a bigger edge though imo.

It takes me too long to work out if the river card made him suckout in plo. lol. Something you get used to i suppose but i have probably only played 1000 hands of Plo. Would probably have some EXTREME variance.
