If you enjoy poker, don't waste that hobby by trying to make it a profession.
I'm not even having fun until after hour 20 on a 4 day binge.

play outside of the fun cozy home game for multiple hours straight and see if you still like it.

money management is critical. if your not putting away some money now for both poker and emergency funds do that. don't go and pile up debt and spend your monies on booze, dope and hookers.

if you really wanna be pro spend nothing at all while your pro and before you go pro. that means don't use heating in a cold climate or cooling in a hot climate. dont get a haircut, dont shave and dont bang women. buy no new clothes.

you really gotta go hardcore at this if you wanna go pro. this is what im doing right now. the life is sitting in a casino or cardroom stacking tourists. not driving ferraris and living in mansions with fine ass bitches or ripped guys if your gay. even if your play high stakes you still live in a cheap room eating cheap food wearing cheap clothes and jerking off to cheap porn. spend your monies on poker education (coaches books training sites).

The dream of becoming a professional poker player is not what it's cracked up to be. It's a farce, an illusion. The reality is that it's very hard work with very little pay off and little to no glory.

For a young person like yourself, poker could be a useful vehicle that could help lead you to achieve real success in life. For example, while in school you can make good money playing poker which you can then use to start a small business. If poker is your end goal then you are just setting yourself up for a life of misery and failure.

^^^

Posts like these are usually made by people who were able to live the dream of being a legit poker pro.

I don't remember seeing any posts from someone who has been paying the bills with poker for >10 years saying 'yeah I made the best choice with this career'.
