2/4NL Bodog 9 players

Villain is LAG/TAG ($250): UTG+1 raises $12
everybody fold
Hero ($598): BB re-raise $36
Villain: calls

Flop is 2cJsTd rainbow

Hero bets $50
Villain calls $50

turn is 9d

hero bets all-in
villain calls

river is 9s

Raise bigger pre flop, and your cbet is perfect but what hands do you expect him to call a shove with on the turn? He either calls and has u beat or folds the worse hand

The flop bet is a little low but it doesn't matter because you are headed to putting him all-in on the turn.

I don't think you can get away from AA on the turn given his short stack size so keeping the lead is the way to go. If he had KQ or a set I don't see how you could escape at any point.

I want him to fold or pay big if he's on a draw when i shove in the turn. How much is the "correct" bet on the flop?

He got KQ and hit his straight on the turn.

You're going to be OOP for the rest of the hand, I'm raising this up to about $45 preflop, bet $75 on the flop and shove any turn. We're never folding with those stack sizes.

If your aim is just to have fun, then that's cool, but if you want to improve and make some money at poker, I'd consider moving down stakes to learn the ropes. A beginner is going to run into a lot of better players at $400NL.

I flat pre in this spot more often than not. By 3betting, your range cannot be weak and it's hard to get villain to make mistakes vs you playing your hand so face up. It depends on your image but I'm hardly ever 3betting as a bluff here either and I prefer to balance my range by flatting the top of my range, assuming villain is good enough to know my range is strong (and most of them at these stakes do).

Given his stack size, it's even better because it nullifies the semi-RIO you get from not 3betting to protect.

Obv after flatting I'm c/r almost any flop, esp this one. Your perceived range for c/r this flop is much weaker than the 3bet pre.

I don't play this high, but I kinda like flatting and then x-raising the flop too.
