Can I play 6max like full-ring assuming UTG~UTG+2 fold preflop(e.g. my UTG opening range in 6max=my UTG+3 opening range in full ring)? If that is wrong, why?

I guess that would be a starting point to work from but 6max has very different game dynamics than full ring and tends to play looser and more aggressive preflop which you will have to adjust to. Start off my having a look in the Micro Stakes NL forum and go from there

There are a huge amount of threads on this forum on this kind of topic if you use the search feature.

personally from mid to late I think you can open wider than the equivalent in 6max. FR players are nits, and generally uncomfortable 3beting you light and many are just auto-folding the blinds.

You are quite correct
Your hand range needs to be a bit wider
But take a note that 6Max has higher variance and better regs
I suggest you do some study before you start @ 6max

Yes 6max is just like 9max or 10max except the first few players are not there. The main difference is that 6max players tend to defend blinds more and better than fullring players since it's something they experience a lot more often.

oakley is right on here. in all games your strategy for all plays is based on your opponents play not by some standard rules of hands or betting. those are just for the basics.

Are we talking 2nl or 50nl?!

I would tend to say there is a bit of a difference as you move up...

OP I think that is fine as a starting point, Oakley already pointed out you can expect some different ButtonvsBlinds dynamics.
Starting hand ranges are really just your default play if you are missing information anyway, especially in late position you should vary your opening ranges according to table dynamics. Also, solid PF play is important, but your postflop play will make the biggest difference for your winrate.
