PS one of the reasons I quit drinking was constantly waking up 3-4hrs later with a fast HR and not being able to get back to sleep for hrs. Beer 99% of the time fwiw.

If you moved over the border you would do ok. Irish social welfare is ridiculously good. Rent allowance, fuel allowance, electricity allowance, free medical. All that on top of €200 a week.
The recession was just a handy excuse for losing your job and getting to sign on the dole.
