What sort of strategy do you need to beat $5.50 and below mtts? I will be playing these everyday probably 1-2 mtts a day during the week and 10 or so over the weekend. Around 20 mtts a week.

So I should be focused on studying spots where I am value betting?

you should be focussed on what mistakes your opponents are making, and how to exploit them. this is correct at all levels, but at lower levels, this is mostly playing too many hands and overplaying them.

If we can't get our opponents to fold there's not much point playing 27o.
When we get KK how do we determine how much should we bet preflop? if we have seen opponents call 3x BB raises should we attempt to bet 5x BB looking to get called? if our opponents are raising a lot could a limp-raise be better preflop with KK?

It depends. Where are you in the tournament. The answer is different if it's early and effective stacks are 200BB than it is if effective stacks are 30 BB.

Re: the bolded, if someone is raising frequently enough that you are fairly certain their range is wide, you can try limp-reraising with a wider range yourself.

How often do they call a 3! when they open raise? What have they shown down in earlier hands.

It's a process, not a formula.
