Don't mean to derail the thread, but because someone has a high post count and posts in beginners forum doesn't mean anything. I posted in the beginners forum when I was a noob and used the help and tips from better players to enable me to become a intermediate player. I still post in the Beginners Forum because there is still things for me to learn, and I can learn by helping out newer beginners.

mmac900, I live in the UK, and right now I play play 50NL and 100NL and I have a part time job that does not cover my rent and living expenses, so I use poker to supplement that income while I find a full time job.

Playing poker when you HAVE to earn the money, is psychologically very different from when you just playing for fun. This just cannot be overestimated. Downswings are no longer, just a shrug of shoulders, a downswing can mean unpaid bills which piles on increased pressure. For that reason I prefer to play 50NL overrolled with a $2000 bankroll, than play 100NL.

I honestly wish you (and the OP) luck. Since you will be able to play on euro sites, find a good rake back deal and you can earn a living in the UK at 50NL, if you put in the hours... but I fear there is some serious naivety going on here.

The OP claiming he will play poker 40 hours a week after finishing work?
That is absurd. It is a stretch for me to play 40 hours a week and only work work on weekends.

Combat u say u play when u feel like it and cant imagine puting in 40 hrs. Good for u bro, some people luve the game and 40 hrs a week is nothing. Get Rich Quick?? No one said it's an easy living, if u don't think he should quit his day job that's cool and I agree but the count down to busto and all that crap that's awful man. My advice to the man is go for it... You only live once in this world. Players are gonna play and haters are gonna hate that's the way of the world.

People "care" about winning money when they play poker, that's true. But that doesn't necesarely mean that it should be your main goal to make. What good players really strive for is to become better players everyday and make better decisions, money is just something that comes by itself once you become a great player.

What Combat is trying to emphasize here is that if your only purpose in poker is to make money, your results will be much worse than if you were more focused in learning and becoming better everyday because you are seeking success for the wrong reasons. A lot of people feel devastated when they don't reach their weekly/monthly/yearly goal and they forget about all the knowledge that they accumulated during that time, so instead of keeping striving towards improvement they just end up either giving up or going on life-tilt which hurts their game.

As for bringing OP down with our comments, we are not trying to do that, it's actually the other way around. We are telling him that from our point of view he might not be able to do this and save him the time and effort before he makes a mistake that he could regret.

If someone comes asking if they can go pro because they made 4k at the casino and blah blah blah, the most honest thing we could do is tell that person what the reality of going pro is about, we are not supposed to be like our moms and tell them that they can do whatever they want as long as they believe in themselves etc, etc.

Making money is good, but it certainly should not be your only motivation to achieve your goals, a person learns how to paint because they love their art, not because they want to earn 1k/weekly by selling paints, their love for art is what keeps them improving and money is just something that they earn by just becoming better.
Horrible analogy this aint art Buddy this is gambling. Im in this for money and I bet I go harder at this as anybody else. I dont wanna be sitting in a casino or playing online poker as my craft. I love this game and could play it all day but I see it as 1 means to an end not the only means and definatly not as the end itself. Combat is a moron and to endorse his line well Birds of a feather... Why can't he do it? Cuz u can't? To quote Jay-Z on Blueprint 3 Don't tell me what I am because of what u aint. HATER

Don't kid yourself. A monkey could make good money in the early days of online poker. The reason you have not been able to build it up again should be obvious - the games are much tougher.

I'm not saying you can't do it because in theory it is possible. However, if you are ready then you should already know your own win rate and how much you can expect.

I dont think I expressed myself correctly. I love poker and I want to make money just as much as everyone else, but I think money being your only drive towards achieving your goals is a recipe for disaster for most people as it induces tilt when you fail to reach them.

That's just my opinion though.

I never said anyone can't. Just throwing a precaution out there for people who think beating 25NL for 5BB/100 equates to being a pro. If they weren't aware of what I'm saying, I'm doing them a favor. If they are, like what I'm saying is going to stop them

You have 967 post since October and not 1/10th of them have been helpful.

You aren't doing any of the beginners a favor by posting in this forum. Almost every time I read one of your posts, It's ridiculous crap or wrong some how. Yet you just ignore the flabbergasted responses and keep rambling on.

Most of the people here ask questions and help with decisions that have to making money and or heading in the right direction to do so weather or not they are intelligent q's or not.

Do em' all a favor and go post ad nauseum anywhere but here ffs.

And what would you know about post of substance. Look at YOUR last post. I can sum it up for in three words, "I lost. Waaa

This is your first post in this thread. Where is your contribution to it?

Combat actually addressed the OP and made a totally reasoned post about the improbability of the OP coming anywhere near to be a poker pro, and ass clowns like u for some reason get offended when someone doesn't post anything that isn't a complete endorsement of the OP. Get a life, and a brain, kid.
