I don't understand sorry what
11-20-2009 , 11:45 PM
ur 23/11. there's the prob
11-20-2009 , 11:45 PM
23/11 is not great, what is your vpip/pfr in each position?
11-20-2009 , 11:49 PM
preflop you limp too much and/or cold call too much. fold or raise/3bet rather than limp or cold call. close the gap between your vpip and pfr.

Ok.

So they should be around 20/18?

You're doing okay.

You are not aggressive enough, preflop or post. Preflop, you should be raising most of your hands, almost never ever limping, and you should not call raises much at all out of position. You need to be more aggressive post flop and not just call bets so much and let people push you off hands. Play good hands and play them aggressively.

selfmade I was having similar problem as you bout 2 weeks ago, not beating it either I made adjustments in my game, my stats before were ugly 17/9. I was calling to much and not raising enough. Now Im raising almost everypot I enter if not already raised, if already raised Im 3 betting if I feel I have strength and position, dont call marginal hands from blinds, my stats now over 6.5k hands are as follows, I think I still need to make small adjustments in blinds but other positions are solid now....BB 12/5, SB 29/11, BT 32/29, CO 26/23, MD 19/17, UG 17/16. Since making these changes over 6.5k hands Im running at 18.5BB/100 at 10NL. When Im losing a big pot it usually a cooler or a bad beat, but Im stealing blinds so much I get it back quite fast over 6 tables. Obviously Im running good right now with that winrate but still a night and day difference than before. My vpip now is 23/19 rather than 17/9 huge difference and way more profitable.

thanks

i am up 28 buyins at 10NL over 20k hands (7BB/100), and i can honestly say that i have never open limped preflop, ever.

I think thats a huge problem if you are playing 23/11. That, or you are calling raises when you should be either 3 betting or folding.

thanks man

wait a minute so you just raise, raise, raise even with complete air?

u need your vpip/ pfr to be closer. anytime thats got a big gap between it, it means you're calling too much preflop - either limping or calling raises.

passive play generally results in less EV than raising (it might still be +EV, thats not the point). the point is that you make more money by raising/ 3betting than you do by calling because it gives u an extra opportunity to win the pot - u dont have to have the best hand, or make the best hand since your opponent may fold.

so my advice would be either tighten up and lower your vpip, or play more aggressively and increase your pfr while keeping your vpip the same. you could either 'aim' to try and play around 21/19, or 'aim' to play around 13/11. obviously you shouldnt actually 'aim' to play anything by forcing specific plays, but by sorting out your preflop game it should naturally fall into place.

its probs easier to start off with my just trying to lower your vpip - fold those 56s/ A4s type hands when someone opens and you are on the button. they are likely costing you money.

no, 23/11 -- the 11 = preflop raising, not post flop. obviously you shouldn't be raising your garbage hands, and should never be limping.

PUNISH THE LIMPERS

I don't know if its because Friday night but I tightened up my calling range, increased raising/3betting and I am up 5 BI in span of few hours.
