I am heads up in a MicroStakes PKO Event on PokerStarsON. Super Deep stacked. Villain had 210BBs and I had 98BBs at the start of heads up. I have never gotten heads up this deep before so I'd like some feedback on my general strategy against this particular villain.

VILLAINS STATS

65/43/22% 3bet

Generally very splashy and willing to put their whole stack in with any pair or draw. Lots of Donk betting pot on flops. Lots of open Jamming or 3bet jamming 200BBs pre-flop.

STRATEGY

Against this particular villain, I employed a very loose passive style, hoping to outplay them post flop. Lots of limping and check calling / check raising post flop. See an example below:

    PokerStars - 1200/2400 Ante 300 NL - Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

    BB: 515,162 (214.7 bb)
    Hero (SB): 105,838 (44.1 bb)

2 players post ante of 300, Hero posts SB 1,200, BB posts 2,400

Pre Flop: (pot: 4,200) Hero has 4 4
Hero raises to 4,800, BB calls 2,400

    Flop: (10,200, 2 players) 4 T 2
BB checks, Hero bets 7,956, BB raises to 510,062 and is all-in, Hero calls 92,782 and is all-in

    Turn: (211,676, 2 players) 8

    River: (211,676, 2 players) J

    Results: 211,676 pot (0 rake)
    Final Board: 4 T 2 8 J

BB shows T 9: (One Pair, Tens)
    (Pre 50%, Flop 2%, Turn 0%)

Hero shows 4 4: (Three of a Kind, Fours)
    (Pre 50%, Flop 98%, Turn 100%)

    Hero wins 211,676

Ultimately, we got it in good when we had the best hand.

      PokerStars - 1400/2800 Ante 350 NL - Holdem - 2 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

      BB: 376,874 (134.6 bb)
      Hero (SB): 244,126 (87.2 bb)

2 players post ante of 350, Hero posts SB 1,400, BB posts 2,800

Pre Flop: (pot: 4,900) Hero has Q 9
Hero raises to 5,600, BB calls 2,800

      Flop: (11,900, 2 players) J T 2
BB checks, Hero bets 9,282, BB calls 9,282

      Turn: (30,464, 2 players) 8
BB checks, Hero bets 23,762, BB raises to 361,642 and is all-in, Hero calls 205,132 and is all-in

      River: (488,252, 2 players) 7

      Results: 488,252 pot (0 rake)
      Final Board: J T 2 8 7

BB shows 4 T: (Flush, Jack High)
      (Pre 39%, Flop 75%, Turn 20%)

Hero shows Q 9: (Straight, Queen High)
      (Pre 61%, Flop 25%, Turn 80%)

      BB wins 488,252

      1. Given this particular Villain, was this the best strategy to employ? Should I have been more aggressive with 3 and 4 betting this deep?
      2. What would our 3 and 4 Betting Range look like against this villain? I was thinking something like 66+,A9s+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+

      Thanks for any feedback.

if we speak about preflop 3bets the best strategy vs this kind of guys is to 3bet very good hands witch we will also 5bet all in or call easy to a 4bet example AQs, and also to balance this strong 3bet range we will add some pure bluffs that don't like to see the flop SRP, for example: K7o, 73s, J2s, etc. but not so many bluff, just from time to time.
making 3bet on him with hands like JTs, JQs, 66, A5s, will lead at bad things like:
1.he 4bet and we must fold, or we call and we play a very bad spot oop JTs vs agresive guy.
      2. he will call the 3bet and postflop we will be placed in a bad spot again with marginal hands.

the main good things with this polarized range is:
      1. when we have monsters, will be easy to play postflop and we take very much value from he's aggression
      2. when we have a pure 3bet bluff like J2s, we will find a easy fold vs a 4bet and the hand cannot lead to loosing all stack
      3. when we have a pure 3bet bluff like j2s, and he call the 3bet, we have 2 options, give up or bluffs, we will mostly not be placed in a bad spot where we will have to call all stack. there will happen to try making a 3barrel bluff and he calls but this is the life. we can't win all times, we just want to maximize our chance of winning.

the same strategy should apply when we 4bet

i wish u best luck and keep learning!

The first example he had you almost 5 to 1 in chips, and hit top pair. Which kept him in and then got runner runner. Sucks but happens a lot

Second one he almost had two to one in chips and went for a flush makes sense too. What about the hands that led up to the stacks. Bad beats coolers one outers are going to happen. Its how you respond that counts.
