If a 22/16 with a decent (for us) fold to 3 bet stat opens utg and it folds to us on the button would we be better off occasionally 3 betting AJo because it's slightly too weak to call or would it be better to occasionally 3 bet a hand like 89s because it's easier to play postflop if we hit.

Thanks for your time

3bet both to keep your range polarised.

this question is stupid... why don't u give actual fold to 3b% 4b% call 3b% if u want a good answer. I'm more inclined to 3b a2s then ajos in most situations cause most people 4b a lot and call 3b not as often utg but really so dependent. If he folds to aggression but calls 3bs a lot i 3b 89s... really just so player dependent.

if he's playing strategy including mostly 4bets and folds, you want AJ (blockers), if he's cally pre you want 89s

This is pretty close as both hands are viable as 'breakeven' 3-bets, but for different reasons (blockers for fold equity, playability if called). By default, I usually fold both, but will 3-bet AJo if villain opened for 2.5x or smaller. I generally prefer the smaller SCs and suited wheel aces for 3-betting in position.
