I hit a royal flush at palms Las vegas DB!!!! $1 game for $4000. So that brings me even for the year. Pretty sick. I tipped $80 but I think that was too high. Thoughts?

As for using the phone during play - No one bothered me. But I did read that it is illegal.

https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/ques...oker-app-ipad/

Still I don't think any one is gonna bother you, they happily paid me my jackpot but a lady did say the casino erased comps from some of the video poker regs there. She said she had $3000 worth of comps and they said they no longer want her business and stole all her comps and a few other peoples as well. She was a video poker grinder. I've played at the Palms every day and havn't had a losing day yet. That extra credit from the full house is huge.

been lurking a while, never got into slots/vp or anything but see vp as a potential outlet for earning comps etc

i thought one of main benefits of using those machines was there wasn't any tipping because there wasn't anyone to tip

who do you tip? when?

I'm guessing it's when you exchange your ticket at the cage? but I wouldn't tip someone at the cage when i cash in my chips after poker. Or am I supposed to tip there and never realized it?

Not sure if this is the right forum or if it's been address already but I have a question about video poker, mainly Ultimate X I guess. My girlfriend and I discuss this a lot and it came up last night.

If you're dealt aces full, do you hold the dealt full house to get the 12X multiplier on all hands next hand (playing ten hands!!). Or do you drop the boat and go for 4 aces?

Same if dealt 2s full, 3s full, or 4s full?

Tough one as the 12X on the next hand is worth a ton!

Double Double Bonus or Triple Double Bonus where AAAA2 pays 2000 or 4000 are the only games you would consider breaking up AAA full house (or Super Aces Bonus where AAAAX pays 2000).

If you had 10 lines of multipliers lets do some math...

Full House pays 45 so 450 credits on a 10 line game.

If all 10 had 2x multiplier that is 900
If all 10 had 3x multiplier that is 1350
If all 10 had 4x multiplier that is 1800
If all 10 had 8x multipler that is 3600
If all 10 had 10x multiplier that is 4500
If all 10 had 12x multipler that is 5400

You are automatically DEALT those winnings if dealt a full house.

If 3 of a kind is only held:

Double Double Bonus
If all 10 had 2x multiplier that is 300
If all 10 had 3x multiplier that is 450
If all 10 had 4x multiplier that is 600
If all 10 had 8x multipler that is 1200
If all 10 had 10x multiplier that is 1500
If all 10 had 12x multipler that is 1800

Triple Double Bonus
If all 10 had 2x multiplier that is 200
If all 10 had 3x multiplier that is 300
If all 10 had 4x multiplier that is 400
If all 10 had 8x multipler that is 800
If all 10 had 10x multiplier that is 1000
If all 10 had 12x multipler that is 1200

It is a tough one... You could really go either way, but if you already have big multipliers up there, the amount you get for the full house on each line is worth holding. You could not get a single 4-Aces or even 4-Aces with a kicker... Even if you did get AAAAx on say a 4x multiplier without a kicker the chances of that on that one particular line is so hard.

That's a great question. I play 10-handed DDB UX and I always keep the FH just because getting a loaded 12x board is so valuable, I never gave it much thought. When I get some spare time I'll try to stat this out, now I'm intrigued.

For a 9/6 or 9/5 DDB machine, with no multipliers on the board:

450 - EV of holding FH
613.64 - EV of holding AAA when throwing away pair 2-4
635.85 - EV of holding AAA when throwing away pair 5-K

Of course current multipliers change the holding FH EV. And this doesn't factor in the value of multipliers for next hand. I guess I can do that next based on the EV of average hand (the machine payback %).

For 9/6 paytable:

Decision EV of AAAxx FH (100 coin-in):
Hold FH: 45*sum(multipliers) + 1187.77 (this term is next hand value given earned multipliers)
Discard pair (2-4): 61.36*sum(multipliers) + 445
Discard pair (5-K): 63.85*sum(multipliers) + 445

AAAxx (2-4): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 45 or less (neutral point 45.4016)
AAAxx (5-K): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 39 or less (neutral point 39.4042)

------------

For 9/5 paytable:

Decision EV of AAAxx FH (100 coin-in):
Hold FH: 45*sum(multipliers) + 1174.48
Discard pair (2-4): 61.36*sum(multipliers) + 440.02
Discard pair (5-K): 63.85*sum(multipliers) + 440.02

AAAxx (2-4): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 44 or less (neutral point 44.8936)
AAAxx (5-K): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 38 or less (neutral point 38.9634)

--------------------

For 8/5 paytable:

Decision EV of AAAxx FH (100 coin-in):
Hold FH: 40*sum(multipliers) + 1161.43
Discard pair (2-4): 61.05*sum(multipliers) + 435.13
Discard pair (5-K): 63.27*sum(multipliers) + 435.13

AAAxx (2-4): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 34 or less (neutral point 34.5036)
AAAxx (5-K): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 31 or less (neutral point 31.2119)

----------------

For 7/5 paytable:

Decision EV of AAAxx FH (100 coin-in):
Hold FH: 35*sum(multipliers) + 1148.54
Discard pair (2-4): 60.74*sum(multipliers) + 430.31
Discard pair (5-K): 62.96*sum(multipliers) + 430.31

AAAxx (2-4): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 27 or less (neutral point 27.9033)
AAAxx (5-K): Hold FH if sum of multipliers is 25 or less (neutral point 25.6878)

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is offering some Identity members a complementary online video poker tournament during the corona crisis. The actual game play is powered by Videopokerdotcom.

Each tournament round lasts for a week, and prizes are $1,000 in Identity play distributed among top 5 finishers:

1st Place - $ 400
2nd Place - $ 250
3rd Place - $ 200
4th Place - $ 100
5th Place - $ 50

Each entry into the tournament is the total score from one session of 100 hands on a 10-line game. You get the 100 hands, it doesn't cost any credits to play. Entries are the scores from individual sessions, and they are not accumulated across sessions.

You are allowed 10 entries per day for 7 days. According to the information the available games change from week to week.

Right now I am playing 9/6 triple double bonus VP w/dream card.

The winning scores lie in the 60,000 to 70,000 credit range.

This means, that to get on the leader board, you pretty much need to hit at least one pat jackpot hand (4AWAK or RF) for 40,000 credits, plus some other serious scores.

Another way of seeing it is, that to compete your average hand must pay around 600 credits. Hands paying less than say 100 - 200 credits are largely insignificant for the final score.

Am I right that usual credit-EV-optimizing strategy is out the window?

Is the optimal strategy really only to hold premium trips (with kickers when available), and discard anything else, maybe short of pat non-premium quads?

Tournament play is different than regular play. You essentially need to hit Royals and 4awk's...

Dealt 2x 5's - 10's and two royal cards or an Ace, hold the royal cards / ace.

Dealt 2x 2's - 4's w/ kickicker hold the kicker

If it is TDB, and dealt 3x 5's - 10's and an A, I'd just hold the A or two Royal cards.

You are basically just going for the bigger wins...

You have to select carefully from the available games. Super Times Pay or Good Time Pay is probably better than Dream Card if available. Whatever TDB variant with the highest payout is probably ideal.

Can you see the other scores in real time? If so then if you hit a big hand you're better off waiting until near the end of the day to complete your entry. You can adjust your hold strategy based on how many additional points you need to win.

Absolutely no way is discarding trips for a single ace the right play.

In a tournament setting yes.

Playing cash money? No.
