Probably means when he thinks it's worth typing it's worth considering.

OP,

If you go to the bellagio and sit at a table at 8pm you will be dealt entirely different cards than you would if you sat there at 8:30pm. Makes you think...

OP,

If you go to the track and bet on a race that starts at 8PM an entirely different horse will win than a race that starts at 8:30PM. Makes you think...

Yes but those things are not based off of a "supposed random number generator".

So are a horses legs. Though they are a weighted rng.

But no matter what time you walk up to the blackjack table you will be dealt the same cards, (assuming the dealer is standing there alone and dealing from a shoe).

Some of you are being way too dismissive about what the OP claims he's not interested in but is actually totally interested in.

Truly random numbers are really really really really really really hard to generate. The live equivalent, shuffling cards, is only random in the sense that the human eye has a tough time tracking cards. Given sophisticated enough cameras and total disregard for laws, you can predict exactly how thr cards will be dealt and rip everyone off.

The online version is more mathy but vulnerable to the same attacks - it's typically a pseudorandom number generator which uses some kind of seed. The seed can come from the clock, or the shaking of a mouse, or static electricity within a CPU. Figure out the algorithm and seed, and you can crack the RNG.

There are a ton of people on either side of this battle who are very interested in cracking RNGs or preventing people from cracking RNGs. And the applications go well beyond online gaming - timing attacks and the like are a big part of cracking encryption schemes in general.

For those of us who think mod stands for moderator instead of modulo, it's not super important to understand how it works but really important to understand this stuff exists and push for things like solid legal regulation of offshore gambling sites so that math we don't understand doesn't become a risk to us.

OP may be an idiot but being overly dismissive gives a false sense of security to everyone. This is a serious issue and one that is generally underappreciated because the argument is really mathy and technical.

Yeah the difference between an RNG and a PRNG has nothing to do with OP, and I think it's a mistake to project a greater understanding on what OP is actually about.

Combining knowledge of the inner workings of the PRNG and picking good numbers is the key to a winning keno system.

it's random at 7:00 and it's random at 7:01. how can you theoretically beat the game if it's always random and always negative ev?

You guys are not imaginative enough.

Theoretically, every second you click the button, the cards will be different.

It is therefore theoretically possible to "click the button at the right time", get dealt one hand, win and log out.

Of course there is no way to know what the right time is and of course 99.9% indicates that there never would be any way to know.

It would be equally possible to not log out, and just continue clicking the button at the right time and win every hand while you're still logged in to the same session. Each hand is affected by the RNG. There is no built in "program" to make sure that you lose a certain number of hands. The house edge is built into the rules of the game.

Whether you log out and back in after each hand, or stay logged in, it's completely irrelevant. You could also go to Vegas and play one million hands at the same table and win them all. Or play one hand and cash out, then go to the table next to it, play one hand, cash out, lather rinse repeat one million times. And win them all!!!! It's literally possible!!

Considering you've made, like, 20 posts in this thread saying the exact same thing, the onus is on you to explain why this is
a. Interesting
b. Threadworthy
and
c. Something that has haunted you for years.

If the answer is that you're always high af or something, then ok fine.
