James Grosjean's 2009 Book Beyond Counting Exhibit CAA P.332

"If the player holds 3322 and the dealer holds KK3, then the Ante and Play bets win, and the Two Pair earns the En Prison Bonus of 5-10."

How player hold 4 cards in three card poker ?

(Sorry, I'm a real novice in this game. I tried to search this question, but failed. )

I don't have the book, but he must not be talking about three card poker. It's not possible for the player to have anything but three cards at any point.

I’m pretty sure he is making a joke about having four cards in your hand would get you sent to prison for 5-10. He uses the “en prison” rule reference in other sections of the book as well but this seems to be the clearest meaning.

Players 3 cards must be 332.

Dealers cards were KK2.

???

Maybe there is a 5 card bonus hand? that would make 3322? No... that can't be... Then the 5 card hand would be 33KK...

Must be a typo or something...

What is an "En Prison Bonus?" Never heard of that?

I like Hoskomatic's interpretation the best.

The En Prison rule, used in some Caribbean casinos, calls for a half payment to be held over and wagered on the next deal. So, for example, if you bet $5 and get a 3:2 payout, they pay you $5 and then hold the 2.5, en prison, for the next deal. If you win the next deal you get paid $5, on top of whatever you have wagered.
