I didn't think it was possible to count in online BJ. One casino I came across says just that and offers BJ tournaments. Is this legit? I don't see how it possibly could be.

The blackjack tournaments are probably against other players, so they don't care if you count. I doubt they offer countable cash games.

What I mean is that I didn't think it was possible to count playing RNG blackjack.

Sure it's possible, if they don't shuffle every hand and they let you know when they shuffle. If they shuffle every hand, or give you no indication of when they shuffle, then counting is useless. Counting isn't all that useful in tournaments anyway, as your bet size is usually dictated by your stack relative to other players and number of hands remaining in the level.

Looking through the site it is really unclear what they are trying to tell you. They have this in the part about blackjack strategy:

"Is Card Counting in Blackjack a Strategy?
In a word, YES! Any form of rational premeditated choice that benefits your game of Blackjack can be called a Blackjack Strategy and card counting certainly is a rational choice and most certainly does provide benefits to your game. The good news is that (no matter what the land based casinos may say) it is a perfectly legitimate strategy to use when playing Blackjack. It is the genuine, real deal casino strategy that works for Online Blackjack!"

However - in their FAQ, they have this:

"River Belle Online Casino supports a Fair Gaming Policy, meaning that each time a game is played, the software uses a Random Number Generator to randomly produce the gaming results. This ensures that no 'programming' advantages can be created on River Belles side to favour the house. It also prevents players from gaining an unfair advantage by counting cards or 'cracking the system'."

So it seems that they are saying that is it a legitimate way to gain an edge when playing on their site, but it is unfair so their software has been set up to make counting useless.

Most online casinos "shuffle" every hand. Since this is done by a computer program with a random number generator, shuffling takes a small fraction of a second, so there is no cost to the casino to do so, and it prevents players from getting an advantage by card counting. Contrast this to a live game where shuffling takes a significant amount of time. Even with a shuffle machine, there is some down time while one stack is place in the machine and the other is cut and loaded into the shoe. Since only a small fraction of players count cards, it is to the casino's advantage to shuffle less frequently.

This link at RiverBelle is still up. This sounds a lot like misleading marketing to me if they shuffle on every hand, which they do.
