I'd assume it's been audited and vetted at some point.

There's this guy that always plays $25-$50 on all 3 spots and pretty much always puts $1-2 on trips, blind and ante for dealer tips every hand. So when he wins he wins big and the dealers make $100-$300 an hour because he tips so much. When he hits a flush or full house he keeps all the $1's he had out and just throws the dealer a $25 chip. He'll also then put $1 on everyone elses trips bet any time he wins a trips bet. Tonight there's this old lady who staunchly refused his tip bet on her spot, "I don't want that up there!" she says with a frown. As if that $1 dealer tip bet being up there is magically going to change what her hand is.

That guy left so I took his seat but it went cold for an hour. Then I hit quads with no trips bet and of course the table gets in an uproar because I missed out on the $150 that could have been.

Off-topic, but I saw a guy bet a stack of 15 orange chips on baccarat the other day. The table max was 15k so the dealer broke the bet down. He got mad that the dealer touched it and pulled his bet back. The supervisor came over and let the guy break it down himself (without dealer intervention) while he watched. Of course the guy lost anyway and cursed the dealer for ruining his luck. Most gamblers are dumb.

People are hilariously superstitious. The cards are the cards, no tipping or betting or praying to Jobu will change that.

Except at the craps table. If you try to buy in in the middle of a hot roll I will cut you. Or hop the reds for $20 each the next two rolls...but probably the cutting.

Played somewhere couple weeks ago with a friend, and we had a flasher. 1/2 of the time we could see her card clearly, that and knowing what my friend has, we have to have an edge.

We started with $200 and bet $15 the whole time ended up with 1k after an hour. Pit boss kept looking over and said just for the camera don't make it obvious that we were looking at each others cards, lol.

Whenever I play this game now, I pretty much just pick my hand up and hold the cards faceup.

ETA: I stopped in at Red Hawk in Placerville, CA recently, and the paytables there are terrible. 6.18% Trips and 20% bad beat...pretty odd that the only place I've seen that has the "best" Trips paytable is Planet Hollywood.

They have the 9:1 pay on a boat, right?

Q: is there an optimal trips strategy? I was thinking possibly 20% of the ante?

Optimal would be not to play it (IMO).

On a different note there's been 2 instances that I know of locally where players were paid in error and the pit boss has asked for the money later on. The first one I was at the table when the lady was playing and they payed her on multiple hands where she lost. I guess a few days later when she came back they demanded the money back. She paid.

Last weekend there was a girl playing with her boyfriend and the PB came over and said the dealer paid her on 2 pair when the dealer had a straight so she owed $60. She wanted to see the tapes or see a screenshot of the hand layout but the PB said they don't provide that to the guests. Then the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen at a casino table happens. The boyfriend only has green chips and is betting reds so he pushes 3 forward to be colored down. The PB tells the dealer to take that money and consider it paying the $60 the GF owes. The guy starts yelling WTF are you doing? That's my money I want change and the whole table can't believe the casino is trying to take this money from someone other than the girl who owes it. It takes a higher floor person to come over and tell the dealer to give the guy his $75.

After all that, girl refuses to pay and they kick her off the table. I would have thought they would kick her out of the casino too but I guess she just can't play UTH any more. Boyfriend stayed and played though (LOL) after she walked off.

Poto is worthless as an establishment, but so leaky it's almost worth it. If you aren't playing with at least a 3% edge, though, you shouldn't be playing there period.

If your staff pays incorrectly I don't owe you ****, especially if you demand it. It's a colossal pain in the ass to be reimbursed when my money is incorrectly taken from me (they once claimed I didn't hop the reds before a seven out, took 45 minutes to get my money and even then was only paid as if I left it up) so why the hell would I just charitably hand over what is rightfully now my money?

Looking at DSB's trip report in LVL, this appears to no longer be the case

I can proudly say I didn't play a single hand of UTH on my last Vegas trip. Too many other decent opportunities that I didn't need to go looking for.

same boat here but given current conditions in las vegas i'm curious as to what you found and how you managed to play for more than 40mins

I found a couple very lazy, sloppy dealers at someone's 3CP game that made it 1CP. Easy to fold A77 when you know you're against TTX. Given their procedure it also took exactly zero cover play. That was a healthy bit of my gaming, and it covered the cost of my trip. I was sad when the first dealer was tapped out, and ecstatic when the replacement was just as bad.

There are still crappy dealers at MS, and horrendous flashing still occurs at BJ. You can also sorta slowly comp hustle PGP being rated at 2.5%+ loss when you're down around 0.8%. At least covers some meals.

Am I misunderstanding, or are you saying you cheated by looking at the dealers cards?

Um, this thread is about trying to win at UTH. If you know of a way other than what you call "cheating", we're all ear.

It's the dealer's responsibility to not show me their cards, not mine to not look.

Is UTH worth playing if royal flush jackpot is 90k? Just wondering if I should play for a little while for the he'll of it but don't want to dump a ****load of $$ in the process.

Is that a seperate side bet for that jackpot? Is that in addition to 500x on your Blind bet?

Depends which jackpot you're talking about. If you need to use only one of your cards, then the break-even point is about 17k. More likely, you need to use both hole cards and "flop" the royal flush with the first three community cards. Wait until this one hits 166k.
