Craps: 10x Odds Situation. Laying the Don't Craps: 10x Odds Situation. Laying the Don't

Hi craps dealers/players. I have an idea and I wonder if it floats. In Colorado, we have 10x max odds, but we also have a $100 max bet. This creates an interesting situation when laying full odds on the don't pass/come bets.

At Ameristar, the minimum is often $10. So, if I make a $10 don't pass bet and the point is 5 or 9, I can lay 3:2 in the odds. Since the max I can bet is $100, I would lay $99, since it is a product of 3.

Obviously cutting out $99 to try and get my odds down is a pain in the ass for me or the dealer. I'm wondering if the box would go for this solution...

I lay a black $100 chip for don't odds on 9. The dealer gives me $1 change, and leaves the black chip as odds against 9. In the case that I lose, he takes the black chip, and I already have my change. In the case that I win, he pays me $65 on my odds, which is $66-$1 (the dollar he already paid me).

Assuming I'm taking full odds every time, doing everything predictably and in repetition, do you think the box would go for this? Does it even make things easier for the dealer? Is this straight impossible because it violates gaming rules or some likely house procedure?

Thanks for your thoughts.

shouldn't he be paying you $66?

No. $65 + the $100 chip. The extra dollar is in the $100 chip.

Your bet is $99, not $100. Either you win $66, and get the $100 back, or you lose $99, and get the $1 back.

so they would give me the $1 change after I lose. Okay. same difference. Just never seen change made after a loss before. That's what I was asking essentially.

Your max is $150 since you’re “winning” $100. You can’t surpass $100 so your max odds is $150 on the 5&9, $200 on the 4&10 and $120 on the 6&8.

If you’re laying, depending on the joint you’d have to pay the vig up front or afterwards. At my former joint, it was afterwards, which is highly in your favor. In that scenario, just lay $150 to win $95 ($100-$5vig).

Also you can’t have 1 cheque as odds as you have to heel the odds for the camera. Otherwise it looks like you’re laying 1 cheque denom.
