Searched "hosts", this thread popped up, asking here.

First time using host, rooms covered.. what's the tip situation? x amount per night? x% of total bill?

Sure this has been covered, appreciate the feedback

This thread has to have the record for most deleted posts ever. Lot of overzealous modding ITT (by humans and bots).

i assume youre talking about a vegas host. thats far different than a poker game host. poker game hosts generally dont want tips because they play in the game and win your money.. many vegas hosts cant/wont take tips, they get paid on your action anyway. ask him for something you dont expect and then if he does it tip him 10% of what its worth. if he doesnt take tips you can buy him a small gift based on something he likes. rooms are nothing, no tip. buffet nothing, parking nothing, line passes nothing. see if you can get a bottle of crystal or golf comped. thats much tougher and tip if your host goes above and beyond.

edit: You talked about it here I hadn't gotten to that part yet, sorry. https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...6&postcount=75

At one point in time I was one of the only people on here explaining how and how much cheating was online. At the time I was shouted down from every corner but subsequently proven 100% correct. I’ve basically been proven 100% correct about every “hot” take I had about poker over a decade ago and the cool holla balla poker “pros” who shouted me down are long gone.

Hint: In California Split, George Segal's character has a job.

ETA: Obviously California Split >>>Rounders. Robert Altman >>>> John Dahl.

Is it ever ok to slow roll a whale? If so, what type of circumstance would it be optimal?

Big pot, medium, small? Friendly whale or tilty whale? Etc.

Feel free to sloroll a whale who slowrolls you first as long as it’s in the “spirit of fun and lively gamesmanship”.

So part 2 is it ok to go out of your way to always slow roll (literally every single chance whether pot is 2bb or 2000BB) a reggy reg who fake claims to be a Rec but really is more of a reg than a rec and loves to needle?

Slowroll anyone who is bad for the game including me if I deserve it. Lol. I’ve been slow rolled many times and basically never slowrolled back, 99% of the time the slow roller is a fish. I feel I gain psychological ascendency by not caring.

I don't know what's going on in LA as I've always been based out of the NYC area but perhaps SoCal isn't the live poker hub it once was. /shrug.

Online? WPN and BOL both have high stakes games running. BOL has had a full pool of 80+ players in the 5/10 zoom for days straight now. WPN has nosebleeds running pretty regularly. 25/50 reg tables are running every night and there are games even higher than that. I sat and watched guys play 100/200 the other afternoon. Wild swings in a short period of time.

This, of course, doesn't even mention private games. Regardless of the state of the economy, there will always be people with money and apparently - always be people looking to gamble with it.
I told, ya! Big time, high stakes poker exists en masse outside of LA. Move out of the sticks, Gentlemen!

Please give more examples of how to get psychological ascendency. Does running it once every time for example gain this by putting the fear of god in opponents who face an all in pre or on flop etc?

running it once only matters against low bankroll nit grinders. you gain psychological ascendency against a mid-reg when your opponent realizes you are going to outfight and outlast them and so they stop making marginal plays against you and start just giving you the tiny pots. you gain psychological ascendency agains a whale when they just want to ship it blind against you and run it twice, they just see every hand with you as a complete gamble.
