Still no mention of "Seat me" here? Up your game, Keith.

TLDR: RIP game selection.

TL;DR: sell "destroying games that dont have 6% rake" as "improving the game".

just call it amayaspins and get on with it.

I checked Pokerstars after update to build 16168, hoping that programmers finally have corrected crashing bug. First game, first hand and crash! No comments. I'm not going even to continue testing last build, i'm going back to an old version.
In a few months we will celebrate the anniversary of first crashing bug report.

As several earlier posts have alluded, this week we announced a new product / poker rules initiative called Seat Me which aims to improve our ring game seating process by making it smoother, quicker and fairer.

We will be testing this new functionality soon, at first only on PokerStars.es, and will review the results of this trial before considering potential future use of Seat Me in other markets.

Seat Me eliminates the ability of players to pick their tables and seats at the tables, and will instead get them straight into the action automatically once a game and stake has been chosen.

Seat Me will:
  • Greatly reduce the ability to bumhunt
  • Prevent seating scripts and level the playing field by undermining those few players using software that allows them to unfairly prey on less experienced players
  • Mimic the live poker experience of random table and seat selection
  • Introduce potential time penalties to reduce game disruption caused by players constantly switching tables, stealing blinds or refusing to play certain opponents
You can read further details, as well as some of our reasons for taking these steps, on the PokerStars blog:

Your company is creating a false environment publicly for rec and fun players by continukng to allow this ****. You have essentially given up creating a fair environment through policing games and just want to steer players away from tjese games to the higest raked games with the least amount of potential cheaters. Very worrisome all round. Customers beware
Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Please see the post on our corporate blog regarding steps we are taking to make the cash games fairer:

Seat Me is a new product initiative that we will be testing at first only on the PokerStars.es license (in Spain), and then evaluating before deciding whether or when to bring to other markets. You can read about it here:

We had a bug where for some players the software was repeatedly writing updates to the log files causing them to grow so large they consumed all available disk space. The source of the problem was found and a resolution was developed which is included in the client updates that have deployed this week and last week. Most licenses have already deployed (including .EU and .COM), any remaining licenses will deploy early next week. So, if you accept the update, the problem should be resolved.

This is believed to be related to the large log file issue and should also be resolved in the new client updates. If you still have a problem after updating, please let us know or contact Support.

Thank you for posting your experiences with our software, and please don't be discouraged by unkind comments from other players.

While most of our players have enjoyed the software and see the benefits to many of our changes, there are some players who either intensely disliked the changes we made or who have had problems with the software (like persistent intermittent crashes). We can understand their frustration and points of view, and we appreciate their feedback, even if it's not complimentary. But we also appreciate hearing from customers who are on board with some of our improvements.

I personally hope it proves to be a success and that you roll it out to other markets (including mine) sooner rather than later, for all the reasons mentioned above and more...

did you consider using "seat me" initiative to be used in tournaments too? you could just randomly choose tournament buyin, playerpool and structure. because you know game selection is so bad for ecosystem.

Is there consideration for introducing Seat Me as an option for players (default option even) while leaving traditional ring games with seat selection an option as well?

That's exactly what you have now, so not sure what would be needed to introduce?!

Any info on when the "Play for Me" option will be introduced, now that we have "Seat Me"?

I'm sorry the crash is still affecting you. We offered again at the beginning of this month (this time looking for desktop PCs, though we would still accept laptops, too), but so far no takers:

I think this would rather defeat the purpose of the whole initiative.

Why can we not have whatever SNGS we want in the tournament lobby; is this ever going to get resolved? I would think you would want to do everything possible to make it easier for players to register for more games?

I'm one of the few regs that start tables at 400-600-1k all day long and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be mayhem. How is it going to work with 3-handed games? Is it going to seat in "triangle" at 6-max so that every player has a free seat to their right? Same with 4-max, is it going to sit the players simmetrically?

Sometimes I start many tables and after 30minutes or so when I have enough tables I close some. Will I be penalized for that even though I'm not trying to angle shoot?

feels like we are hand for hand in the mini main tcoop with 14k+ players left

no a fun experience in a turbo playing 2-3 hands per level.
