On a slightly related note, is it just me or are there no more giveaway challenge tournaments. My tickets are just piling up.

Kind of see what c00n's saying - the Gold zoom challenges have been quite long ... but it's a game have played a lot, so it didn't seem too bad? And then the prize for completing the challenge was more like a bonus?

On the other hand, not sure if it was such a hot idea to give those HU SNGs a try yesterday, with that not being something have played much at all. The way things felt at the tables, was probably kind of lucky to have *only* wound up down $2.34 at the tables - yikes!

Guess the promos could be a chance to try out new games - but guess there's also the chance of losing money more quickly playing an unfamiliar game?

It can be tempting to try and complete these though, when there's not too many people showing in the shootout lobby - will be bummed if today's winds up having like 4097 entries, and I don't wind up with a cash prize?

PS Not sure about those Giveaway challenge tourneys - hopefully someone else will know?

I'd understand it if today's challenge was about hitting a hand whose probability is specific to the game type... but why are the missions to win 90 (resp. 180) hands restricted to Hold'em again? Jeez...

When you check your giveaway tickets in my tournaments, no tournaments are visible. But if you go to the tournaments tab and search for giveaway, they are all there.

The gold challenges I am particularly fond of, as the overall EV is typically around $9 per challenge (sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the number of AI shootout entries). If you're an average player (losing only to rake), there's no way the amount of rake you generate is gonna reach even close to $9. For instance in the "Cash in 7 SNGs" challenge on average you would play 14 $1.50 HU hyper SNGs to complete the challenge. You'd be generating 14*$0.06 = $0.84 in rake for a reward valued at $9 approx. That's exceptionally good value as even for a losing rec player it will still be +EV to do the challenge.

As for "chances to lose money more quickly playing in an unfamiliar game", well I guess that depends on the stakes you play and your bankroll. For a player like me who regularly plays 25nl, jumping into some $1 spins or $1.50 SNGs is never gonna be a big hit to my roll. For a 2nl player it's a different story of course, and yes then it may be a bit of a challenge as even a few dollars means a lot more as that's several buyins. I remember the days when I'd lose about $5 playing 2nl and couldn't sleep at night lol. Funnily enough, the more recent swings of up to $300 that I get these days every now and then don't seem to hurt nearly as much lol. I guess I'm more used to variance now

Completed every challenge so far except the sunday million gold challenge, won $10 from a silver challenge, other than that got tickets all the time (less than 1% chance to get only tickets from gold challenges at this point) /whine

Completed every challenge so far except the sunday million gold challenge. Got tickets every time. Failed to cash in every all-in tourney. Won $0.00 so far. /whine^2

($10 sounds AMAZING at this point)

I've thought about this for a long and have bet been able to pin a price point but with changes I think now is a good time for this addition.

X (3) times a year you can pay X(2500) Starscoin's one month after a hand is played to see what your opponent had. I think this would be a decent addition to store because Rec's sometimes I'm sure are very curious and sometimes a reg can be curious too about one hand in particular.

No cons to this as long as set up where no player can be abused for info and if the person is interested enough to learn about the hand they are willing to wait a month to see what other person had and it's a learning experience clearly that I think a lot of people would use once or twice a year and I wish I could paid X dollars before to see someone's hand even months after. So maybe 1500 Starscoin's is better price point.

Meh lol.

decent idea imo, but only if at least some of the SC goes to the player whose hand is seen

Sick to not get anything but tickets in BOTH though man..
And now people want to tell me it's not rigged

Shootout downswings are very real - with almost a week left to go, hopefully everything'll even out for everybody by the end of the promo, so that everybody winds up with a little something?

Looks like tomorrow's Gold challenge is the same as Sundays? Am a bit tempted to give those HU SNGs a second try

Better not

These challenges are getting a bit repetitive - anybody else starting to get a bit bored with these? Wonder what's next in store for March?

Will probably just play more of my app game tomorrow that have become a bit addicted to ... hopefully there'll be something fresh and exciting for next month ....

GL to everybody playing tomorrow

OK idea, but I think you should make it like in home games, where one can set a price to show his cards (I remember some High Stakes Poker episodes where some were offered 5k to show and refused, so this should be individual for every player, or at least depending on the stakes he's playing at), and the money/starcoins/whatever goes to the player who's hand is shown with just a little rake to pokerstars, as it is a big disadvantage for the player showing his cards. there always is a reason for someone not to be willing to show his cards.

So we're coming towards the last few days of February and I must admit I have been a big fan of the promotions this month in Feb. I'm a silverstar who normally has to grind the last couple of days to get to 500 VPP's but we're the 24th and I'm already over 800! So obviously the challenges have worked to get more action from me.

But it's been fun, I don't want to play the same games day in day out, so it's good playing a different variety of poker formats.
As a player who doesn't have the biggest of bankrolls, the $250 that I've won this month in prizes has significantly helped! I've already won more that I did last year in bonus $!

I've been impressed this month and would 100% like to see something like this again Pokerstars It keeps the games fun and interesting in my opinion, plus the cash games are super soft! haha.

So yeah, thanks for this month PS! I look forward to the next promotion!

I also liked this promotion a lot. I think it encouraged play in a fun way, so thumbs up to PokerStars for that.

As for todays, well it was one of the better challenges so far in my opinion. I also got berated by a $1.50 SNG pro whilst doing it, made it even more fun

Maybe in the future there could be different games included - play x hands of Stud, play x hands of Draw games etc. Recreational players might find a new game they enjoy and pros get to have a bit of fun donking around in an unfamiliar game.

This.

There is a lot of fun in other games, not everything is Holdem. (there was no challenges for Omaha, right?)

I wish there were more winners than 319 in "giveaway freerolls" (even if it's for 10 cents). To cash in the all-in freeroll seems impossible with so many entrants. And I only cashed once in the Hyper-turbo.

Saxby I agree it's a good promotion overall. The value in it is great, the milestone theme has a sort of historic charm about it. The promo challenges you to play game formats you might not normally play and encourages rec players to increase their volume.

But I agree with Trusty also that some of the challenges are getting a bit repetitive. I would like to see a bit more variation, something a bit more interesting and different. Perhaps a "Win a hand with 72", "bluff on the river", or explore other formats like Omaha as some have suggested here.

As for what might be in store for next month, I have a feeling the first $1M freeroll was planned to be held sometime during March? There's also the $10M Sunday Million to look forward to (still freeroll entries to be won), and hopefully there will be more cool promos coming our way!

Guess everybody's views of this promo might depend a bit on how much $ we all wound up with? (Sam gets 2 shootout tickets yesterday => promo's now 'boring' lol .. )

You know what's kind of nice about some of these promos, is how maybe there were a couple of people who played those Sunday Million 10th Anniversary satties last Friday just to try and complete the Silver Challenge, who might have wound up winning a ticket? So that's kind of neat that they now have a chance to play something that might have just seemed like a longshot? And it looks like tomorrow's Silver Challenge is to play satties to live tourneys - that'd be pretty cool if a couple of people actually wind up winning an entry to a live event that they've never dreamed of giving a try ... hopefully that happens for a couple of people, that'd be nice

Oh yeah that's true PD - that's something to look forward to in March for sure, the $1mil freeroll ... guess if each (playing) entry winds up being worth something like $5 to $10, that'd be pretty nice for a freeroll!

PS. The shootout tomorrow has 3984 people registered but the payouts got set to 3983 ... hope the number gets adjusted, otherwise someone's going not going to cash?
