I live in Taiwan and going to Canada in DEC

A few years ago PS leave Taiwan so since that, I have never login to PS and have no idea what's population of it right now

but I'm moving to Canada, maybe it's a good time back to PS?

is the population still high in PS? how many people are online at night?

or I should keep staying in Natural 8 (but without HM, H2N..)

or any sites that are recommended for Canadian citizens?

Thx for the answer~

Stars is well and truly destroyed mate. All by Amaya's own deliberate sabotage. More and more countries were Stalinised out of the player pool, soon as Brazil get offed then .com will be completely over. .com/uk now has average 30k online when the former was more like 150k.

This is now the state of a $5 hyper, with former $500 regs begging for a crust of bread.

New owners Flutter think their deceptively discriminating rb scheme will revive anything. It won't. Timebanks are now slashed to unhumanitarian conditions so you can't more than few table without being timed out. GG poker has like 350k online at times, although that number is highly questionable and you can't use a HUD there. Also very deceptive rakeback system there too, with shady **** going down.

It depends what part of Canada also, Ontario has been segregated from the pool now and regulated.

Good Afternoon Otiv,

Yep as Top Pig says Pokerstars is destroyed. Sinking like the titanic. Right now Pokerstars has 38k online and GG Poker has 189k+. You can play GG Poker from Canada that's where I am at and live. FWIW just back into poker 2-3 weeks ago now and use to play at Pokerstars as well. Switched to GG Poker and so far I like pretty good and they let you stake other players and sell your stakes in MTT's. . This all control and done by the site. All players can control is how many stakes they sell and at what markup. GG Poker handles all money transfers and payments.

Guys do complain about GG Poker having a fairly high rake though. I play mainly micro MTT's so don't worry about that much. And really like the staking and selling stakes feature. It can really stretch your bankroll cause you can always usually find a staker at a fair markup if you're a decent player. I usually sell 50% at 1.06-1.1 markup depending on Tourney buy-in and I usually sellout. I'm no money making machine either just a TAG rec. So far I personally do better staking others then a do playing lmao. No joking right now I'm only -$7.62 from staking. I started with $50......3-4 weeks ago now and only have $19.93 left as of right now with tomorrows Tourney's paid for.

Good at the tables and hope enjoy Canada. Just coming for a vacation or a visit?

Cheers!!!

No problem happy to be helpful Otiv and you're quite welcome. Nice that's good to hear you'll be here awhile if you're gonna play GG Poker becuase unlike other sites I've played at GG makes you verify your address. So to withdraw winnings you'll need to have a verified account I believe haven't tried withdrawing yet as only been playing a few weeks and only MTT's so nothing worth withdrawing yet. To get verified you'll need a Govt ID, utility bill, phone bill or any piece of info ID with your name and address clearly on it. And they won't accept screenshots and all pieces ID/info you send need to current within the last 6 months.

Good luck the poker tables and good luck with the huge move man and must be pretty dam excited and a bit nervous. Not sure where you're from but sounds like you're making a big change in life. Hope enjoy Canada and welcome.

Cheers!!!

Gg numbers seem suspect to me. They have an edge on real players, but not 5 fold.

If I was to judge both Pokerstars and GG Poker by the numbers in the link compared to what I've seen(over my last 3-4 weeks back) and what both sites have showing on their sites BOTH are suspect in they're numbers and are cheating the numbers. Which doesn't surprise me in the least if they do.

Also curious if this takes MTT's, SnG's and everything besides just cash tables into account. Honestly I'd probably bet every site cheats the traffic numbers if they show them.

Cheers!!!

It's my understanding pokerscout monitors traffic independently and they ve been doing this for more than 10 years.

I checked out GG from Canada too a few months ago and confirm the posted population numbers (if you believe them). I play low level tournaments as well. But I stopped playing there for a number of fundamental and, to me anyway, important reasons.

Firstly, the tournaments have very long registration periods that end up making them seem to last "forever" before you reach itm. Also, all their tournaments have unlimited rebuys and this distorts my strategy and in my mind favours players with deep pockets. They don't have any STT or small or capped games, only their version of "Spin-n-Go's. It's a 6 hour tournament or a 10 minute Spin-n-Go.

They also don't allow, or provide the capability of, using a HUD (as in what PT4 provides). On the other hand they do provide a built-in "mini HUD" to every player. Although very basic it did provide some rudimentary, albeit important, info about your opponents, such as their winnings to-date, even if you've never played them before.

The most important reason I don't play there anymore is I that feel the majority of the player pool is cheating and this by two different large groups. After the Russians were banned from PS due to world-wide sanctions they all went to GG. They represent now about 30%-40% of the GG player pool. Everything since the Russian invasion of Ukraine supports the conclusion they have no morals and no scruples and will do "anything" to win. I felt that way when they played on PS as well but I assumed PS kept control of the worst of it. Secondly, of course, is do you want to have any association with Russians after all the atrocities and human rights crimes they are committing in their unjustified and unwarranted invasion of Ukraine.

The other group representing also about 30%-40% of the player pool is from mainland China. The actions of that country both within and outside of it suggest to me a total disregard for the rights and well being of others (including Taiwan as you well know). I assumed a low moral character and that most of them were cheating with impunity too.

Right or wrong this is what I felt and what I concluded and putting it all together represented for me a distasteful and unpleasant playing experience regardless if I won or lost (but felt it was very very slanted towards loosing side imo).

My two cents...

Gotta admit GG Poker not having STT, 18, 45 and 90 player Tourney's is quite a turnoff. Even Pokerstars haven't had the 45 and 90 player Tourneys for awhile I believe. It is quite a turnoff cause a good number of days I don't have time for a 7-8 MTT...I wish I did. I can though pretty much everyday find 1-3 hours though for something 45-90 players and I could play 2 back to back.

I actually like the HUD and Pokercraft that GG provides for everyone and that everyone has to use. I also like the staking and selling stakes feature and it's offered free completely controlled by the site when it comes to money $$$ around.

Idk I honestly felt the same way you feel about Pokerstars back when it was the top site and I played there. Back then it use to be the Russians, China and Germans that seemed to be shady when you got a very odd played hand for a huge pot. No offense meant personally to any of them nationalities there's plenty good people and players from those countries as well. I've always found micro/low stakes on the most popular site(no matter what the site is) more a donk circus anyways over actually poker.

Can't disagree with any of the rest. I feel you. It is rather distasteful. With that said you'd probably be surprised how many distasteful people, companies and businesses you deal with each and everyday. You're now wrong though. Quite honestly been looking at and considering moving to Blackchip Poker once I go busto, get moved and settled and playing again. Be much choice if GG Poker wasn't the leader in traffic and MTT's GTD right.

EDIT: What I'd really love to see is MGM go Canada wide with its gambling, sports betting and poker. Being Canadian I'd be all over that in a second and wouldn't play anywhere else. As rec player I just want my poker fix and to make a small bit of mad money that the wife doesn't need to know about lol.

Cheers!!!
