No thanks. I'll stick to playing live. Thats kinda shady. Basically they can steal your identity.
Nope. This already came up in the NVG thread and got discussed to death. PS is regulated by data protection rules (GDPR) financial conduct rules and gambling commission rules. They are legally obliged to meet the requirements of all those regulations and what they are asking is super standard.

You of course have the choice to opt out...freedom of choice and all that...but there is absolutely zero shady about it and data protection regulation provides that anything you supply to any legit organisation (pretty much anywhere in the Western world now) has to be adequately safeguarded.

For info, you guys do data protection regulation at the state level, most of your states are, or will be, GDPR aligned.

There is an awful lot of overlap between this thread and the one in NVG - just saying.

For the record, I am 100% with you on this and understand what you are saying.

Having said that, to think that your data can't be hacked from a company, regulation or not, is burying your head in the sand. Also, to think ANY company, regulated or not, would put your private data above the next penny of profit is simply naive.

This isn't directed solely at PokerStars as I do believe the data they collect is for player safety and not nefarious intents.

These big outfits aren't looking to spend anymore than they have to on data protection as it's just another cost in their system, which is why we have the leaks/hacks that we have in this country, along with the occasional selling of info for profit (which does happen).

I understand the process and am with you, but I also understand why some are reluctant to give up personal data these days.

Nobody said anything about anyone being unhackable. The issue is accusations that they are "shady" somehow because they want that information. Target infamously got hacked, are they shady?

Pensfan, I'm a DPO (Data Protection Officer) so this stuff is my day job. Nothing you say is wrong in itself (apart for the bit about it being shady), but you might not have quite caught on to the seismic shift in data protection regulation bought about by GDPR. All big companies will absolutely prioritize data protection because breaches caused through malfeasance, incompetence and complacency can be fined up to 4% of turnover.

The UK ICO have given notice to fine a US company (Marriot International) £99,200,396 ($127,968,510) already this year. 99 million bad boys...that's a lot of motivation not to **** this stuff up.

https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/new...r-data-breach/

Bottom Line

Your personal data is a helluva lot safer online than it used to be...and it will get a helluva lot safer still over the next few years.

Breaches will still happen and there will be bad boys out there, but Data Privacy is huge and getting bigger all the time (ask Tim Cook, Apple or Brad Smith, Microsoft)

And that's why they pay me the big bucks

I saw micro plo8 running when the site opened. I don’t look for it regularly though. Other than 8-game I haven’t seen any straight low limit non holdem or plo games get any traction.

And those bucks are well earned as it can't be an easy job, I didn't mean to say it was, seems hopeless to me at times. My point is that any companies is only as good as the people they employ and the job those people do. There will always be someone who is too lazy or not skilled enough for the position to leave an open door and once your info gets out, it's out.

I don't doubt execs at Stars, and other companies, are very well intended when it comes to data protection. Again, it's only going to be as good as the team they have doing it so I feel as though the less we put out there the less is possibly at risk.

I have played 6-Max $30 PLO a little bit. The play is terrible: getting people to pay off nutted hands is easy and I'm not very good myself.

Someone was asking before if there was more than 2000 peeps. I saw 2200 plus online last night.

Update on support. I have been getting responses, a little slow at times but at least it's down to under 24 hours. Getting a new PC this weekend and I hope that helps my issues go away.

24hrs? It took me 2 weeks to get a response. No live chat/No phone number is the only thing i worry about on pokerstars. What if you get disconnected and locked out your account. I was locked earlier for an hour because it wouldn't transfer my session from phone to pc.

It was two weeks at first. They seem to be responding now.

The live chat feature has worked for me the couple times I've reached out. They weren't able to resolve the issue (MacOS and geolocation software), but that's not supports fault. I wonder why the chat option is available/quick but seems like a lot of people are pushed into having to deal with support via email?

Can't seem to get it to work normally and actually track hands during a session.
I've had to use the table finder (in the active session tab) to manually attach the HUD to the table every time, but once you do that you're good to go for that table so it's not too bad. If the table finder button is disabled, stop and start the HUD and then it should be clickable.

I hate how scheduled tournaments are rewarded less reward points than cash games or sit and gos. They also seem to not reward points at higher limits. I don't play them but still believe that they should give rewards. Guess they are returning less and less to the players.

Do we know if the points to earn a chest are set on the PA site or do they adjust them based on the player like ROW? I am hoping it is set but I had my points for a gold chest go from 4250 to 6000 yesterday so feel like it may not be set.

Hm2 works fine for me. Make sure you have stars set up to actually save hands. When i downloaded it, it wasnt defaulted to saving hands.

Are you sure about that? They seem fairly set to me. Both my black chests have been 22500 before(mini brag, won 210 in my first one lol). All my plat chests were 10k. I didn't really pay attention to the chests before that.

https://www.pokerstarsmtairycasino.com/stars-rewards/

And according to this the bonuses are pretty well defined. I imagine their ROW structure of varying value isnt compliant in PA.

Assuming every black chest is 22500, the effective rakeback is 31%, Platinum is 25%.

Point earn rates are definitely flat(100 points per dollar rake in cash games)

My black chests cost 26,500 now. Before that, I think they were 22,500 like yours.
