Are you using a HUD/Tracker or any other apps when playing? If so, I would try shutting them down one by one to see if it might be caused by the combination of some other app running when Stars is running.
- Windows 10
- AMD RYZEN 9 3900x 12core
- NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060
- 750gb free or ~900gb
... but it's the same one that i played 1.2m hands on in 9mos last year.
and why tf is a poker table so resource intensive at all? bubble graphics? throwing things?
- all animations are disabled, throw-ables disabled, graphics low, old files deleted, client reinstalled twice (and reconfigured), only program running besides anti virus etc.,
i've had to cut pt4 as well,
It sounds counterintuitive but set Aurora Graphics Quality to High and enable Aurora Ambient Animations. A few months ago I ran into same problem you are describing and setting those two options fixed it.

Hmm. I have a better processor but your graphics card is better. One thing I have noticed about the graphics settings is when you turn the graphics quality to low, everything looks really laggy/choppy. So much so, it looks like there is something wrong. Playing with that setting would drive me nuts. I leave mine on High and the card animations on Turbo.
As to the restart issues ... no idea, but I would try backing up your stuff & reinstalling Windows all together if you haven't already. The only thing I could think of is maybe not enough RAM? You didn't list how much RAM, 750gb would be hard drive space.
Aurora is known to be pretty crap and use a lot of resources ... lots of people have had issues with it. Saw tons of people on Reddit complaining about it. Apparently you used to be able to disable it but Stars took the option away...
This is a long shot, but if you are willing to try anything at this point, check to see if your motherboard BIOS has "above 4G decoding" enabled. If your above 4G decoding setting is disabled, try enabling it (save changes and exit after setting). You really can't hurt anything by trying this. If it does not work you can always set it back to disabled.
To get into your motherboard BIOS settings you typically press DEL or F2 when you first turn the PC on.

I normally just use pt4 - but play without it to reduce resources.

I'll give that a shot, ty.

- gonna try to graphics quality
- i haven't tried reinstalling windows, but i have zero issues with any other program.
- yeah, they are crap. and i've seen others with this issue, but stars reassures me it's just me.

I appreciate all the replies, that's more than stars gave me <3

Nothing was there in BIOS>Advanced>PCI System settings - at least not the 4g decoded option, nor under any other tab
man had such a moment of joy when i turned on/up the graphics and animation- got up to 12 tables last night..... short lived. froze and sht the bed..
this prob cost me over a grand or two already.. coulda just bought a new comp - fn stars.

thanks anyways, guys.
Hi 541VA - you need to switch off of mercury theme and play with Carbon Lite. I had the exact same issues you’re describing. Playing on Carbon theme fixes it. The issue is mercury or black themes. It’s tilting not using those because they look nicer but it’s better not to have the constant crashes. Good luck

Appreciate the thought - tried that weeks ago to no avail.
I do agree that it might have something to do with the black themes, but i don't want to have to play on that wack theme haha
Im using an old laptop - far less powerful on specs, but none of the soft crashes so far..
sucks tho - and it doesn't seem as if support cares.
Disabling these graphics or whatever the root is - would be a nice option.
I will try some of the things already referenced in this thread, but stopping in to add in case folks from Stars read this, that the software is now so incredibly laggy. Almost unbearable at times. Bummer city.
I'd consider bum hunting to be 4-5 regs sitting out and magically sitting in when an unknown (or known fish) joins, or someone chasing a rec around on the site.
Back on this topic a bit, this is exactly what is happening. I'll be at a full table, the fish loses his stack and sits out, and before we can even complete an orbit it's down to heads up. Really? You're not even going to try to play a few orbits to see if he buys back in or another fish joins? You're that nakedly bumhunting? This behavior is absolutely going to drive the rec players away, and noticeably has since the merge. I like table selecting as much as the next guy and have no interest in reg battle dick measuring, but at the same time you have to realize this behavior is bad for the game. I promise you your bankroll can survive a few orbits without a fish. You don't have to be the jackal just chasing around a lion hoping to get the scraps from his kill.
