Considering we're approaching holiday season, 2023 is the likely scenario.
Stuff to consider:
1. From what I gather, nobody knows if the merge has to be done simultaneously (WSOP/BetMGM/Pokerstars), or if a single operator can merge at any point.
2. WSOP still has to update their clients in NV/DE/NJ in order to be able to merge with MI. I would assume days/weeks of testing the new software will need to happen first before a merge. Nothing has been been announced as to when that will happen.
3. BetMGM may hold off on merging until they launch their NV site. Nothing has been been announced regarding NV client. Also, BetMGM NJ software is still old compared to their PA/MI sites. Nothing has been been announced as to when the NJ client will get an update. Same as WSOP, I would assume days/weeks of testing the new NV client (assuming they're waiting for NV launch), and days/weeks of testing the new NJ software will need to happen first before a merge.
I'm assuming BetMGM/Pokerstars will run 1 last tournament series before the year is up. When those series are announced, that should be nail in the coffin as to if a merge will happen this year or not.
