The IRS can either thank me for writing them one of the biggest checks I have ever written in my life, or come after me because it's not itemized properly. It's up to them. I may try to do better next year, but honestly with the amount of casino gaming, sports betting, and poker I do, this would bet a significant time burden. However I am confident the final number I reported is accurate.
To my knowledge of federal taxes, as a rec you can only write off gross losses up to the amount of gross winnings if you itemized deductions. This screws people who would benefit from taking the standard deduction. Your AGI also gets inflated. I don't remember what stuff that affects though.

State can do things differently. MI was really bad for rec gamblers years ago but I don't remember specifically why. Coincidentally I lost my gambling income in a boating accident that year.

A few things that a high AGI would affect include Covid stimulus checks, college loans, & Obamacare.

Before Michigan law was recently changed casual gamblers had to pay state tax on all winning sessions with no ability whatsoever to deduct losing sessions.

Heads-up:

I received a survey email from Pokerstars today. Included was questions about sports, casino, poker, etc. including shared liquidity questions.

And if you're using gmail, it'll likely be under the promotional tab, so it's easy to miss. I also saw one for BetMGM, so if you can, please tell them to bring back the SNG leaderboard as it seemed to bring a lot of traffic with plenty of SNGs running throughout the day. SNGs are suffering on all sites, so this was nice to see when it was running.

Damn, I was trying to fill out that survey today while I am at work, but that is a freaking LONG ass survey. There comes a point where if you make the survey too long you turn off people from filling it out. Glad they are looking for feedback, though, so that's a plus.

Hi there-

Curious about the upcoming daily leaderboard coming up next Monday. Anyone familiar with what that entails, how it works and if it's worth setting aside some time?

Hi -- had not heard about this leaderboard. I know they're running a KO leaderboard for the current KO series going on right now, but was not aware of one coming up on Monday. Where did you hear about it? I checked the site and did not see it mentioned....

Saw it on Twitter...

All of a sudden having geolocation issues on all 3 MI sites. Support saying I need to disable "Desktop Central" but I have no idea what this is and I don't see it as a background program/process that's running. Any ideas? Playing on a Windows PC desktop.

When I saw your post, I checked all of mine and I have no issues. I would simply reboot your computer and try again. There was one issue a couple months ago that knocked geolocation out for the sites because they used a similar geolocation service which included casino/betting. BUT since I can't replicate your issue, my guess it's on your end and reboot.

A suggestion and hope you get it fixed

Tried this several times to no avail unfortunately

I think the challenges are done. But the amount of each chest has increased dramatically. I used to get like $3 for a chest. Now it's usually $25-35 in cash back. Not a much as I could make from the challenges, however.

I don't see that one can play HU cash games on PS, other than to play a HU SNG, which is a totally different animal. Are HU straight cash games available on PS Michigan?
05-23-2022 , 05:51 PM
No, there are no HU tables on stars. I think mgm a s/or wsop have them but I can't remember as it's not my format.
05-25-2022 , 05:03 PM
Would I ever want to exchange my chest for a lower level chest? I've completed 23% and there's no way I'll be playing enough in the next 5 days to get to 100%.

Anyone else having geolocation issues this morning?

I had this problem after changing Xfinity routers. One of the reporting sites had my IP listed in Illinois. I reported it and had to wait a month for it to change. PS and MGM weren't much help other than telling me it showed I connected to an out of state router.

Will gladly pay anyone who is tech-savvy enough to help me out here as I did a complete system recovery back to factory settings and I'm still not able to play on any of the three MI-facing sites.

All three sites saying I need to disable any software that misrepresents or tampers with my location (e.g. Desktop Central, TeamViewer, LogMein, etc.). However I don't see any processes with these names or anything similar running in the background on my PC (Windows 11 Home).

Have been playing on all three sites from this same computer for months with zero issues then all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago I can't sit at a table anywhere anymore. And customer service is zero help obviously.

I simply can't fathom how a complete system recovery wouldn't' have been able to fix this.

Might be worth following up with your ISP - doesn't sound hardware related

When this happened to me I checked my IP location and one of the sites had my location as Illinois. It might be worth checking this.

So ironically enough I am somehow able to connect and play from a different computer in my home that's connected through the same network. I tried both wifi and ethernet connections from this other computer and had no issues. But on my original computer I'm still not able to play using either wifi or ethernet to connect to the internet from the same exact modem no matter what I do. So wouldn't this rule out an ISP issue?

How do you check this through the PokerStars client?

I can't say for sure that this will fix your issue, but a few months ago I was having geolocation issues and PStars would not let me play. I got a canned reply from support, and did some research here. This post explained how someone else's router can screw up your perceived location:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=1055

The email reply I received from Stars said the above problem can resolve itself in a few weeks.

Then this helpful post had a link to Ceaser's New Jersey which in turn provided a link to download the installer for GeoComply, a program that runs in the background and ensures their system can verify your location. I installed GeoComply and was able to play on Stars again and have not had a problem since. Here is the original post:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=1551

And here is the link to the page to download the GeoComply installer. This may or may not be your fix -- I only know it worked for me. I did not notice any issues or any slowdown on my PC when running GeoComply.
