The bonuses will be discounted "15%-50%" I am guessing 15% but still a great deal. I hope they wait til later in the month to have them as I need to earn a ton more FPPs!

Scarf & beanie is on sale tomorrow for 850 fpps. Normal price is 1700 fpps. I think I'm gonna go for this one.

Great idea to have a sale!

Nice post...glad I caught it. It'll be interesting to see how much the bonuses get discounted. If they are worth more than concierge it could be a nice way to get a few grand!

Lol sighhh for spending all of my fpps. Time to grind back up and get in place so I can get the discounted $1500 bonus whenever that comes out.

Oh, and I figured I'd toss this out there for anyone looking to take advantage of bonus discounts (if/when they are available):

Concierge value = $500/31000 FPP = $0.01613

(Bonus $) (FPP Req) (Value) (VIP Lvl Red) (Sale FPPs needed for bonus ~ Concierge)
50 5000 $0.0100 Silver 4000
285 25000 $0.0114 Gold 17670
650 50000 $0.0130 Platinum 40300
1500 100000 $0.0150 SN 93000

I believe even a 15% discount would be worth more than concierge for the $1500 $.01764 .

Yeah, 15% would be for the Plat/SN but not for the Silver/Gold lvl.

I may have missed the "15%~50% discounts" on the poker stars page though. I saw it in the OPs post but couldn't find any official reference. Hoping for 15%+, that'd be great!

One per customer.

Are you trying to say that you multi-account?

Open your Poker Stars client software. Go to Help->News.

You will see there at bold and blue: "special discounted prices (from 15% up to 50%)".

That's an official Poker Stars statement...

At least the $1500 one will be at a very nice rate. And I believe that almost all of them will be interesting (at a 20% discount $650 one would give 0.0163 and I am inclined to believe that's what we will find there).

A bit curious about the Limited Edition watch, too. Kind of interested on it if it comes with a nice discount...

Probably a pretty safe bet that the bonuses will be better than the concierge rate....I'd save up ~150k fpp.

On a side note...I'm surprised Stars is not putting up the prices ahead of time so that people who don't have the required fpp tries to grind it by the day of the sale. At least on 2+2, if not the general public, I'm sure many would put up higher than normal volume just to get the better exchange rate. Might not be worth it, but psychologically poker players are weird like that

Well, the $1500 surely will be (what accounts for 85.000FPP) and I am pretty sure that $650 will be too (a 20% discount will be enough) what accounts for 125000FPP total. I am trying to say that there is already enough reason to go collecting FPPs...

But yeah, announcing all prices in advance (and putting the higher ones for later dates) probably would have a positive effect on play volume anyway, I guess.

There might be a lot of optimistic people that will just hope for a 30-40% discount rather than 15-20%, and just have 70k fpps or something and be unable to buy the bonus. If they knew ahead of time, they might put in that extra volume to get the extra 10-15k fpps required for that day. Marketing wise, I think it's wise to let the players know.

I'm sure the idea also involves getting people to go into the store to check the stuff out.

Telling people the price ahead of time and giving that much advance warning just allows people to look at it in advance, say, "not interested in this really" and then pass on it without having to check back later.

Similar to other sales: It's their way of telling people what stuff they are offering in the first place. And they can hope that people notice other items not on sale and become interested in something they might not have known about before.

I, for one, don't know a thing about the VIP Store anymore because I just buy the highest cash-bonus and I don't care about anything else. But this may actually get me a little bit educated on some of the other cutesy items in there (which have pretty much zero appeal to me) and I'm pretty sure that's mostly what Stars is trying to do here.

If they post the prices, you would still check out the items and see if they're worth it. By not showing them, you force people to look everyday, but it doesn't really make them want to purchase them if they did not want to in the first place.

If there was a list of prices, educated players on 2+2 would just convert it in terms of real dollars and it would be easy to see which ones are worth buying. The average poker player would just look at their balance and decide if they want to get X points by Day Y in order to purchase them.

I'm pretty sure they think that by not announcing the exact prices, they'll create a larger surge in playing volume than they would by announcing the precise discounts. Whether they're correct or you're correct is a matter of conjecture. They probably have people who get paid to analyze these things, but that doesn't mean they get it right every time.

But getting people to go to the store more frequently is a goal of theirs too.

Not all players log-on to Stars every day. Some people log on once every two weeks or even less. If this gets them logging on more often just to check out the next 'sale' for their FPP's which have been sitting around collecting dust then MAYBE that person also gets the itch to play a little bit more too.

There are different ways of looking at it. There's also an excitement factor they are trying to build up along the lines of, "FOR THIS DAY ONLY!!"

Guess I can't argue with those points. Thanks for being diplomatic and saying that instead of their analysts are probably right and you're not

This promo reminds me of a typical one on Partypoker, and they were onto something...

Reposting this question in this thread since it's probably more appropriate than the uNL PokerStars Reg thread.

that $1500 bonus for 85k fpps is sick value. Even the $650 for 40k fpps is better value than the normal $6k bonus.

Do they do this kind of thing often? Do most supernovas save up for these discounts to buy their bonuses, or do they not happen often enough to make it worth waiting for vs. the standard $6k bonus?

I probably won't have enough FPPs for either of those bonuses by the time they go live, so I'm wondering if I should wait for them again after I reach SN or just throw all my fpps at the $6k bonus every time I reach 250k. (I'm new to Stars.)

Essentially, they stole Amazon's gold box.

I like it though, it's kind of a fun promo. And knowing that I can get 1500 for a 15% discount is nice.

You are not necessarily wrong...

Its just more a matter of what PS is trying to achieve here (or even, what they are trying to achieve and on what time frame). And did I mentioned what players they are mainly trying to keep captivated?

For long-term results, casual players and frequency store checking, I would say that this is the right way.

For short-term results, regular players and playing volume mainly, "your" way would be probably better.

I would say... I am not a marketing expert, just trying to use my sense.
