So yeah I live in Canada and I like the Pokerstars software.

Can someone tell me more and more about this weird loophole of legal not legal to play on pokerstars.

Ive had trouble to deposit money and managed to do it. It's kind of frustrating to play with the banks here and the almost fraudulous look over online gambling which is not illegal and shouldn't be.

So yeah. I mean, ultimately, if I'm scared to lose my money because im on pokerstars living in canada and one day some guy decide to turn off all canadian poker stars account just because it's ''illegal'' well Id rather have no money there, so im conflicted, can I have more information?

If you're not violating Pokerstars' ToS you shouldn't be scared. I thought Canadian players were 100% allowed.

You should avoid keeping more money on a site than you realistically need to play, and you shouldn't be playing with an amount of money that would be significantly harmful for you to lose. That goes for any site from any jurisdiction.

Im talking about this.

Google :
Is it legal to play PokerStars in Canada?
But the fact remains, PokerStars is in direct violation of Canadian law. ... With no physical presence in Canada, internationally regulated sites are not breaking any laws, nor are any of the Canadian players who participate in real money poker games on those websites. They are 100% legal.

In my opinion - very little.

There's a reason almost every major poker site allows Canadian players, and has from the beginning of online poker. There has been the occasional site that has pulled up and stopped accepting Canadian players over the years, citing mysterious "legal changes", but every time that's happened, it's been an orderly departure with everyone getting their money back. I've never heard any serious talk of the government taking action against poker sites or players.

This can also be said of WA state players. while the play casino sites do not allow the apps, off shore sites and players themselves have never been targeted(poker). In fact, several court appearances by Professionals (teachers, corporate business, owners etc) admit to playing poker online, and no arrests have been made.

If the government determines that you are a professional, taxes MAY be required to be paid.

Just research Duhamel's situation:

"Jonathan Duhamel could be forced to shell out millions in taxes after being embroiled in a tax dispute with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) over his poker winnings. Canadian authorities claim Duhamel is liable for more than CA$1.2 million in unpaid taxes, as his poker playing is considered a 'business'."

This occurred in 2020... unsure of current status of dispute.

Forgive me if this has been asked before or is off topic but how do keep from getting screwed over on the exchange rates moving money on and off of Stars? I’m also a Canadian who plays on there but it’s in U.S dollars and the rate is always much worse coming off than going on.
