The big promoters have deep pockets. They can sign good prospects and offer them good deals. They have contracts with tv companies. The tv companies want boxers with potential to go far, those boxers will probably want a promoter who has a contract with a tv company.
I definitely think that streaming is the way forward. Is my only/best hope to do something with a streaming company and build up my name within the business that way? Ideally I would love to stream the first event that I put on. Boxing is a strange business and I question whether these big channels on TV make money. If you look at the financials many are not doing well at all. PBC in the US is not doing well as a business nowadays too. Same as with Top Rank.
It is generally problematic to try to start a business if you believe that those already in the business aren't making money.
If you have the money to get started, you won't need to worry too hard about making contacts. A couple hundred million dollars should be more than enough to get things off the ground.
You could do it for far less, but it is really hard to promote fights without something to promote. Just post on YouTube for free and collect whatever advertising money from them. I was an amateur boxer a little over 30 years ago. I wasn't very good. You can probably sign me for pretty cheap today. Probably at least three or four people would watch me fight if it was free to do so. Maybe enough to generate $0.45 in advertising revenue to offset your costs if you actively promote it.
If you are already active in pro boxing on the promotions side of things, you know how poor attendance is for low-ranked and non-ranked boxers. Streaming bad fighters could maybe work if you can find a twist.
