In current year a woman could make equal money as a prostitue with way less risk. Some examples include, Stripper, Cam girl, bottle girl. Why risk being murdered, kidnapped, stds etc when those options are available? I've seen girls on twitch who have incels donating 1k a day to them because they are in love with them.

the bottom 30% of girls aren't getting hired to do bottle service and probably only getting the daytime hours at a low-class strip club.

not sure about cam girls but its probably the same for them too with only the top 10-15% making any decent money.

My current employer has a policy that you can't spend money on anything unless you get a purchase order.

This burns on sites like github.com that are about $9/employee per month, for our 10 person team, but won't do purchase orders for less than $2500.

I feel like there's big opportunity here to become the trusted *buyer* for small stuff like this - but you bill your client through a PO.

How about some kind of dog upgrade program? Pay a monthly fee and switch out your dog for a cute new puppy every two years. Then the old dogs can be sold off to the third world or something.

Voice-based phone service that hails an Uber for you when your smartphone is dead.

(You call from someone else's phone or one of those archaic pay phone things.)

nice idea lol.

cause we kinda already got the opposite....dog pounds/shelters almost always filled with older senior dogs.

anyways i think I actually prefer an older, trained dog. puppies are a lot of fkn work!

How about just a new version of craps, where you roll the dice, and no matter how they land, you get 98% of your bet back?

Can I still play the don'ts?

Yes, but it still returns 98%.

Here's an exciting twist! After the first roll, you can also make an odds bet. However the dice land, you get 100% of that bet back.

Hear me out

Related to the latest econtalk podcast with charles munger, who dives into the idea of transaction costs and how minimizing them will lead to a much stronger sharing economy.

A logical continuation or tangent of this idea is related to a specific goods. Up till now they do not have a fancy name but have high "borrow value/potential" and are defined as: low frequency of use, high ownership rate, high use specialization, large storage cost. The example given was a power drill. Most households own at least one, they are seldom used (at most a couple times per year?), are highly specialized (and can't really be used for anything else except drilling holes), and when one is generally predictable. Lots of household products fit these criteria.

These products have costs associated not just the purchase price, but also the storage price. What's the 10/20/50-year cost of that 24" x 16" x 6" space required to store a drill?

My business idea is basically a big ****ing warehouse within a reasonable delivery distance to dense residential that is full of rent-able items that fit the above criteria. If we assume transaction costs close to zero (unmanned drone or autonomous vehicle for example), this is a no-brainer. But I think the idea could work even with human drivers delivering "drills" to people who need them but don't own one.

Difficulties:
already own a power drill and won't need to rent until theirs breaks
people will borrow their friends/neighbors for free
delivery is prohibitively expensive

Benefits:
can use space previously used to store the drill for something else
don't have to buy a drill
don't have to bother with lending their drill to neighbors/friends
Quality of drill likely much higher than what they would buy themselves

Why not that but just the service part of it? Instead of renting a warehouse/buying all the stuff, just let stuff owners rent it and take a small fee?

Tool hire places exist, certainly in the UK.

Your problems are...

Increasingly cheap and good quality DIY tools.
Hire tools get beat to hell, short lives.
If you offer premium brands like DeWalt they'll get nicked
Electricals need a comprehensive testing on return for frayed / cut wires etc.
You may have liability issues if you hire someone, say, a chipper and they lose an arm.
