I recently launched a Print on Demand store that sells "Luxury Men's Leggings" (Meggings!)

My first problem is I think I'm making a mistake calling them Men's Leggings.

My target customer is the LGBTQIA+ crowd and drag queens. I wouldn't want to alienate any of my customers. As we have all now been properly educated on, these days there are plenty of women with penises.

I need another term for "Leggings for People with Junk". I'm keeping Meggings (for the good ol' fashioned gay dudes) but I need a second term for the more enlightened generation.

By the way, check out the big player in this space, meggings.com. They have the worst pitch I've ever seen. "Nobody wants you to wear our leggings, but you should do it anyway."

I'm targeting the loud and proud crowd. By the way, if you're thinking of stealing this idea, don't. LGBTQIA+ twitter is a scary, scary place. And if I sell 5 of these a month worldwide, I'll call it a success. It's not worth the money, because this stuff can't be un-seen.

My second problem is I might sell some in America, but I believe many of my customers will be in Spain, France, or the UK. I am absolutely clueless about marketing to this area. Any help at all is appreciated!

A fitbit that can somehow detect when you're eating or exercising. Maybe it's tied some kind of blood sugar/heart rate/blood alcohol/other stuff monitor implant or something.

Also it has no settings or buttons. The only display is a Tamagotchi-like character that gets disgustingly obese and suffers greatly while it slowly dies - if you don't exercise enough or eat too much.

A location sensor could detect when you're at the gym and possibly at restaurants. If you show up at the gym your fitbit wakes up and gives you a big thumbs up. If you show up at a McDonalds it gets cranky with you. It could conceivably see what you order (via apple pay or CC-linkup or something) and give you a break if you get a salad. Probably could link up to a smart-fridge in a similar way.

You can link up with other people or groups who periodically see your character and how well or poorly it's doing.

Not sure if this really belongs here but lately I've been thinking of small business consulting for very small local businesses.

I have opened, successfully run, and sold 2 businesses. Both small and I never had more than 5 employees on the payroll.

I have 2 friends who currently run somewhat successful retail stores. They are insanely unorganized and don't really know much about the particulars of any of their numbers. One recently had to pay a fine to the state for $700 for a tax issue he could have cleared up for $0 and 5 minutes a year ago. Too bad all the notices are within the 3 ft pile of mail in his office.

The other one pays $400 dollars a month to a bookeeper. He showed me what he gets from her every month. Its just quick-books. He has a separate accountant that does his taxes. I told him he could easily do what shes doing in like 30 minutes a week at most.

Anyway, my idea is to offer consulting services to these 2 guys for free. Set them up with quickbooks, look at their payrolls, get them filing systems going, get them to actually look at their inventory and margins, advertising, ect. If it goes well I figure I have some experience and past successes in consulting to advertise.

"The Help Store" or "The Help Desk" is a place where ignoramuses alike can go to get on demand tech help the old fashioned way, in person.

I can't imagine it making money. Especially not in the long term.

Help Store advocate is the perfect job for our tech savvy teens and burgeoning generation of bilinguals looking to earn while they learn.

Help Store uses a subscription model like a gym membership, or prepaid support time with prorated activities, or walk-in rates, all of which are easily gifted. Maybe a small fee based on the transaction total for helping someone shop or find a deal online, advertise, setup or learn to manage a homepage; Plenty of options for monetization.

Get a couple acres of land, start cat villages.

Keep villages separated by families. So have mom cat, dad cat, children cats in their own segregated villages. Over time they become multi generational villages. Monetize through 24 hour internet cat tv, cat reality show with voiceovers, cat videos, cat webcams, donations or visitors to the cat park. Give the cats entertaining things to do. Maybe a battle area where cats battle birds, rats, fish etc. Tons of things to climb and play with. Have volunteer cat lovers to give cats plenty of love and affection.

If it doesn't make any money, which it probably won't, still would be fun.

Rough idea I'm thinking of starting:

Problem Statement: A lot of teams manage projects on Github since it has some nice integrations for Developers. This can be a pain for Product Managers as they are likely more familiar with tools like Jira and want a better way to track time, create reports, manage progress, etc. These types of things are not currently available out of the box.

Product: A set of plugins for projects that are managed on Github - tailored for PMs.

MVP: Use Github API to automatically create burndown charts for PMs on google sheets

Would love some feedback on this

JIRA and GitHub do have integrations already and you can annotate tickets right from commit messages. i.e.

git commit -m "TICK-123 #done #time 15m reply to ddx19's post"

JIRA has burndown charts, but I don't know about anything direct to Google Sheets.

Thanks, although I thinking more of use-cases where teams aren't using Jira at all.

After some research, it looks like Zenhub pretty much does what I was describing already: https://github.com/marketplace/zenhub (with a custom web app, not a g suite integration)

Do what I did - offer your book-keeping skills and your consulting services for a percentage in the company, but you only get that % if the company for example grow 25% in profit over the year while you are doing the "free work".

I did, and now I own ½%, 2%, 2% and 5% in four different small companies. Also three of them are suppliers to each other, so I get "double pay". (One beer brewery that sells to a restaurant, and one soda pop manufacturer that sells to the brewery and the restaurant)

We're using zenhub at work and yeah it does what you describe. It's also a chrome plugin that overlays / integrates directly into github.com, pretty cool.

I have a friend who stumbled on a business model that is capable of raking in billions, literally. Problem is the target is quite a bit out of reach financially for him. I advised him to consider intermediate targets using similar tech, which could be profitable, and easier to achieve. It would also look better to potential investors because the end game model, although certainly do-able, is likely not going to happen without subsantial capex, which the investors and intermediate targets could provide.

So, lets assume the following (put SGA/RD in capex):
2019: capex $3M, $0 revenues, $0 expenses
2020: capex $10M, $15M revenues, $8M expenses
2021: capex $30M, $20M revenues, $10M expenses
2022: capex $50M, $100M revenues, $75M expenses
2023: capex $50M, $500M revenues, $300M expenses
Going forward capex declines $10M/yr, revenues/expenses flat.

Assuming these are reasonable targets, what can he expect early imvestors to offer, and at what terms? I'm guessing he will need to offer substantial equity %.
