This probably deserves a bump given the circumstances.

So glad I made the switch to trading in 2011. Biggest difference is that it's sooo low variance compared to poker. As in, I don't have losing weeks because I'm winning so much more often than I am losing. Whereas poker, losing in the short run is very standard. Just imagine trading stocks as putting your money in AA every time... you don't even have to be that good at trading to have a nanonoko-type graph. One of the major reasons poker is much harder is because poker is a negative-sum game.

I trade mostly US stocks under $10... OTCs, pinks, small Nasdaqs.. anything with momentum and volume I'll trade.

FWIW, I have been looking for this thread - the original post(s) specifically - for years. Hell, I've been looking for the answers to these questions for years. I even asked the director of undergraduate mathematics at my college how I could incorporate the skills I gained from poker into a successful career - and which career that should be - and I would have been thrilled if her answer was 1/20th this good/comprehensive.

Thank you, OP.

Pretty sure a lot of people knew the future of online poker in the USA was shaky at best.

There's a great post from Jason Strasser (Strassa2) in HighStakes NL/PL HE forum. You should definitely check that out as well. Lots of trading stuff in there.

Thank you for this great thread, just a bump though.

I'm in the final rounds for a job as a junior trader at a big bank. Basically an agency trader, they don't have a prop desk.

What can I expect out of this position? Sure the sky is the limit, but I mean what would be a usual career path for a junior trader?

ArturiusX has posted (#28) in the first linked thread.

Mat is looking into this per post #64 in the first linked thread, and you can PM him directly or post in the threads if you have been affected.

I'm posting these links so that any who have been affected and don't actively monitor the forums will be alerted if they are subscribed to this thread, and can find out more information if needed. Let's all hope this is resolved amicably amongst all parties.

Great article, thanks Art! The pictures/graphs in the OP won't load anymore, do you by any chance have the OP in a pdf-format, so I can see them as well? Anyway, thanks again.

Also, is there anybody that made a "2007-2010 - Professional Poker Player. A report with Career Explanations, Business Plan and Statistical Analysis available to be sent on request, or for an interview". I really like the idea and I would love to see an example of this if that is possible.
