Re: Wanna get high? ... Investing in marijuana

Based on the experiences related here, I gave CBD another chance with a substantial dose. Felt some disassociation which lingered annoyingly the next day. It felt like a weed hangover, which I guess it exactly was. So there is an effect, and therefore it might be of use to some people.

But I still think most of its applications are faddish and too subjective for enduring sales. I mean Kuida brand cosmetics, c'mon. That's essential oil bs. True story: https://www.anandaapothecary.com/shop/cbd-formulas

Why did you take CBD? To get high?

Sessions is out. Should be interesting to see which way things go over the next few months. Federal certainly feels like an inevitably that's coming sooner than lately.

Sold my CGC I accumulated during my "buying opportunity" that I was made fun of for thinking was a buying opportunity.

Sold it yesterday though like a dummy. Only made ~15% instead of the 25%.

A-****ing-mazing.

We all knew Sessions was out and it would boost pot stocks. Then it happened.

Market is just one big rig-a-thon, imo....just trying to steal my piece ....

Michigan going legal is big too, wow.

I really don't know the American market that well outside of TGIF.

If you could only pick the 5 darlings of the American market, what would you pick? In Canada the big 4-5 were pretty obvious by market cap/opportunity size.

Good stuff. CGC is the industry leader and has some advantages others don't (mainly their partnership with Corona). I like adding under 40. I'll probably sell if it approaches ATH again (around 60). Since that valuation is just so high. But I think if you hold it is somewhere over 100 in some years.

I own TGIF but am not a fan anymore. It's making money and is ok but just doesn't seem as aggressive as other companies.

For U.S., I like the east coast companies because the east coast states limit the number of licenses. West coast gives licenses to anyone. East coast is limiting competition.

I really like MPX as an east coast play right now. The MPX Ianthus merger should work well. The two companies complement each other well and have licenses in a bunch of east coast states including FL and NY. Soon to add NJ most likely. MPX has strong branding.

A lot of people are high on Curaleaf but I don't like it as much.

Trulieve dominates the medical Florida market but is only in Florida. I've heard they have plans on expanding.

Curaleaf already has a bunch of licenses (including FL) but doesn't sell nearly as well.

Re: Wanna get high? ... Investing in marijuana

Trulieve just bought two companies in two different states actually. One in Massachusetts (who is supposedly on the verge of approving rec along with their already legal medical), and one in California. So now Trulieve has licenses in multiple states. I'll probably buy more of these guys. I made a post a little back about how they are high revenue but low float.

Re: Wanna get high? ... Investing in marijuana

Not telling you anything you don't already know, but in Canada in the end, the bigger they were, the more money came in. The more money came in, the more small guys they acquired. Whoever is biggest now is probably going to stay the biggest into the legalization frenzy.

So what are the most highly traded and largest market cap American players today? I wouldn't complicate it much more than that. The other thing is in Canada even with rumors of legalization, the climb took 2 years. So I don't even know how early one needs to be here. You could make a nice case for investing a % of your total allotment now and waiting till the picture is crystal clear.

One thing I know nothing about is if the southern American states can and will grow outside year 'round. Because that's a crazy advantage vs Canada where green house space is pretty much a must a lot of the year. I'd have to think the outside growers must dominate the ROI game. Eventually that's probably what tanks the prices of product down the line. Once weed becomes the ultimate outdoor cash crop, prices are really going to bottom out. Probably too many players to run some sort of rigged game like the old potash market.

Are the outside growers going to grow as good of stuff as in the greenhouse where you can manipulate the environment more?

I think it's Aprhia bought a bunch of land in Colombia which I imagine will be great for growing. Aphria appears to be the most focused on low cost production of the Canadians.

If you really thought this it would be retarded to sell it at 60, unless you have a lock on an even bigger gain somewhere else and need the capital.

I'd sell at 60 in short term to hopefully buy back lower on bad news which I think is inevitable and to shift some money into u.s. which I think could have more upside

One reason the US will move quickly towards federal regulation, is so that US companies don't simply become acquisition targets. From a business perspective, Canada's leg up could have lasting impacts. .... one idea, anyway. ...

Why is the United States so far behind the world in some things and so far ahead in others? I don't get it.

A few US players worth a look in case you didn't have them on your watchlist: Kushco, ianthus, green thumb, liberty, elixinol.

One little tidbit that many are overlooking... Australia wants to be a dominant exporter. Canopy and Aurora already own chunks of auscann and cangroup respectively.

I like liberty's connection to Aphria. Aphria is definitely buying back into them when the U.S. goes legal. Could be a great partnership.

All the old myths about outdoor cannabis being worse have been disproven. Before you'd have to hide your outdoor cannabis, so a lot was grown in the shade. They'd also have to harvest quickly so it was harvested prematurely.

Truth is nothing beats the effects of the sun, and the THC counts on a lot of outdoor stuff is through the roof.

In the end for most of what will be mass consumed by people, it's probably not going to matter much either way where it came from provided it passes the tests for mold/pathogens etc...

Cheaper to grow outdoors, as electricity is a major cost for producers.

I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

So many big companies are building big growth facilities I just assumed that was the better approach. Even U.S. companies are. Maybe they just don't have land in areas that it is legal.

Several of the big players in Canada are now exploring outdoor grows too now that it's legal, but many are opposed.

The big concern is security and biosecurity. If you have a really good proprietary strain, you're effed if someone snags it from you.

But if you're just growing some generic purple kush or something, biosecurity isn't a big deal. Just regular security. Btw I think a lot of the people looking to derive CBD and hemp are going to move to outdoor grows.

Btw from what I've read, most of the licensed big boys don't want outdoor growing if they can avoid it. The more expensive and capital intensive it is, the less competition they have...

This was a prime example: https://ipolitics.ca/2018/05/23/big-...tdoor-growing/
