Found this Canadian company EnWave Corporation US ticker is (NWVCF). Apparently some of their customers are in the space. They say they are a leader in Vacuum-Microwave Dehydration technology. I don't know much about this stuff and am pretty skeptical. Revenue growth is very consistent. No net income though and very overvalued if they really did $22 mil last year. Balance sheet is super good. Might trade a speculative position if it breaks out again. IIPR is still my favorite. Sold some shares today but holding some for long-term.

So what's everyone into these days? I've not touched the sector for some time, want to get back into it.

I found the recent edible legislation in Canada horribly draconian. I'd argue it was almost worst case for the industry (I suppose worse would have been a perma ban but that was never happening). Interestingly enough, a conservative win in the upcoming election would almost surely IMPROVE the legislation, and provincially they've been far more pro business than the liberals. It's weird to think the religious rigid conservatives are consistently better for drugs, but so far that is largely the case.

For those who haven't followed, I'd argue the edible market could/should be the bigger market as it's far more approachable to most consumers who don't like the idea of smoking, and find oils meh. The issue is the legislation basically forbids edibles to be anything fun or delicious. It's sort of capsules and extracts or nothing (with a bit of flex in there). I doubt the 10mg limit hurts the market, maybe it helps the vendors who clearly need to sell more caps to a person who will need 3 of those to feel anything (or 6-7 for the real chronic users).

All this to say that a conservative win could be sneaky excellent for publicly traded companies who rely heavily on this area. This includes making fun sugary drinks with THC in it (which is also no the list from what I understand, although 0% beer seems allowed). Ditto for companies who were going to make lots of candies. I was going to look into who did these as possible acquisition targets. I honestly don't know who does, yet.

IIPR is the only non piece of **** in the whole sector, and it's a REIT. We all seem to like TGODF, especially at this price. Btc makes some nice short term finds. Aisian invasion has the good short term plays. I crushed for a bit, but have been getting my dick kicked in lately on pot so I've had my attention elsewhere.

huge oversupply and a lot of supply hitting this market. Canadian companies have a big problem with rot and mildew...if you want to play in this space do your homework there are some that will tank.

It's interesting that you mention oversupply because in a lot of spots it's undersupply if you read online. I wonder if the undersupply is a case of the press being bought or something.

On the medical side there are issues with getting good CBD strains. CBD itself is ridiculous right now, price keeps rising.

But AA and lower recreational stuff, yeah seems well supplied. I can't believe how much money Canopy will lose this year. Impressive.


I think when they triple the store fronts a lot will change. The ones I've been in are slammed all the time.

Ya just read a bunch of recent articles on this, like I said I hadn't touched the space. Still think it applies just to dry cannabis over any other product. That said most of these guys are banking on being able to sell that.

Probably see a lot of people pivot into CBD for medical and above all else CBD for cosmetics. I had no idea how massive that space is. That's the big $ maker. CBD wrinkle cream for like $200.

That's why I like the guys who get a lot of medical sales. Aphria seemed decent at it in Canada. Trulieve is amazing in U.S.

I'm wondering if it doesn't get to the point were it's just about having contracts to provide it and you don't even need to grow it.

Was just reading about how must Canadian provinces are in a race to open more stores now, far faster than predicted. Must be some nice "handouts" behind that legislative change. Anyway it was dumb to have so little in the first place.

They did an awful job of implementation and significantly hurt the first mover advantage the Canadian companies had.
