Re: Virtual Currency - Alt Coin Discussion Thread

Yeah, Litecoin has things going for it whether segwit activation fails or succeeds in august for Bitcoin.
If it fails, then LTC is arguably a better version of Bitcoin. I don't think it would be overall but some aspects for sure. It would probably drive at least the price relative to BTC up.
If it succeeds, then Charlie Lee's vision is possible, of cross chain atomic swaps making Litecoin a faster but less secure complement to Bitcoin, with the added benefit of scaling relief.

Nor to many other people. But I was also overly confident that ETC would be a joke, was lol-ing at my free money. While ETH still gave the better return until now, I would definitely say that my guess was way off. Even if ETC goes nowhere, it survived a lot longer than any skeptic suspected.

Seems pretty simple unless I'm missing something?
Safe harbor is a bit ironic considering the variance of alts is bitcoin squared . This will sound funny in BTC world, but i still believe fiat is the best safe-harbour against a BTC fail.

I don't see any objective foundation in the narratives such as "BTC is gold, LTC is Silver".
Or holding LTC as "insurance" against BTC.

Have to admit though, in terms of marketing/propaganda, they are a beautiful masterpiece. And if enough people believe it, it becomes true as a market reality.

For some reason ETC somewhat correlates to ETH, which is even a bigger joke in my understanding. Since if ETH fails, ETC must fail for the same reason...(until ETC has a completely different code, will not try out POS etc).

But i am just as much speculating as anybody else.

To be fair, those narratives might be the real reason for why the price of those coins is where it is. But i'm not sure that an "obvious logic" applies here where the price can obviously be deduced and explained. At least i can't

Re: Virtual Currency - Alt Coin Discussion Thread

There goes the bnt eth price floor. So much for converting some of your "holding" eth to bnt for a minimum loss gamble. That went fast.
Maybe arbitrage traders/bots were mostly using it anyway.

I like the following alt-coins, and have at least a few hundred $ invested in each:

Burst
Dash
Factom
Florincoin
GameCredits
Golem
Gridcoin
Litecoin
Navcoin
Riecoin
Siacoin
STEEM
Syscoin
Zcash

It's all speculation, and all anyone should tell you is to do your own research and invest only what you are willing to lose. Never listen to anyone on youtube telling you that a random coin is going to skyrocket. Things that I look for in coins that are positive indicators of what I feel make a potentially good investment:

- Quality website with specific information about the coin, developers, and roadmap that is actively updated
- Some kind of community following (reddit, forums, etc) with the company actively involved
- An actual product, or real purpose to the coin that solves a problem (surprisingly there are tons of coins which do not really solve a problem but are merely clones of other coins)

I didn't even read on it. Here's the ****ing problem. There's new "groundbreaking" **** coming out every ****ing day. Obv that isn't sustainable. It's turning into a ****ing joke.

When you scroll down coinmarketcap.com and there's 40 worthless coins worth over $100 mil each, it's safe to say this **** is set for a long long downtrend.

It's beyond me that it's gotten this out of hand.

So Neo is to Ethereum what Baidu is to Google, is that a fair comparison?

Basically the Chinese Ethereum?

Just referring to the giant dip in bitcoin and all cryptos this summer that has more than recovered. IMO we wont be in bubble territory in the near future.
