Finally received my nano ledger yesterday and set it up last night. Very quick and easy to set up and use. The coin apps are Chrome extensions and sync with the device via USB.
The website has video tutorials on how to use it, but it's very intuitive.

buying on coinbase worked very quickly for me once i went through verification. So far no issues.
I also bought some currencies on litebit.com they also support buying crypto currency with fiat money

Because the guy has no idea what he is doing. Some alts are fine, but do some serious research. Scamcor is a definite non-invest. If you don't know what you are doing, just stick to btc/eth.

Fair enough. Totally agree with the last part. But IF you do your homework, there are some good opportunities.
One thing I'll add is to not be sold on the upside of cryptos based on growth in recent weeks. A huge number of virtually worthless coins have doubled in price recently by virtue of the market as a whole growing so significantly.
Are any of you going to attempt the status ico. I set up Parity on my comp. Every test run i try. It will show up at block x+1, x+2, x+3 , where x is the block I am aiming for. I cant get this timing correct. In the instruction video status put out they say to use the block you get 24 hours in advance. Well parity has an option to send "after a certain block" the video says put the block from the status website there. But, during my test runs, i always get x+1,2,3 never the block i want.
At first i was going to do x-2, but now i am thinking x-1, since x-1 is the fastest I got it to send. Where x is the goal block. I don't want to break the contract.

ah ok, good. i haven't looke closely enough at it. and yes, will use both parity, send after block feature, but will set it to send at least 3 differnet times, probably 2 blocks early, 1 block early and then on time.
And then I'll manually do Mist as well.
I'll have to look closer at the ICO terms and determine what exactly I want to do, but I am bullish on Status and intend to participate.
