Throw some coins out there? Im looking to get beyond BTC and ETH and diversify a little. I seem to like NEM as a coin and like Stratis & Library Coin as services. Library has a micro market-cap and version of decentralized youtube is how i would describe it, though not fully released yet.

Nem isn't even a coin.

No one ****ing uses it. Please go check how many txn/s nem network processes

On ETC at night there literally can be a hour the passes where there is just 1 txn.

All of these altcoins outside of a few are complete scams, jokes or pump and dumps

Would I be correct in saying that

If ERC20 coin is trading at x% of ETH's market cap
And I believe that if the ERC20 coin is successful then it will make up less than x% of a mature Ethereum economy

then I should always prefer to buy ETH over the ERC20 coin?

Go to icostats.com and you can check most coins ROI vs eth. Eth has had bigger gains than most of them.

If the coins are on Coinbase, they are Coinbase's coins - not yours. Like storing US dollars in Ultimate Bet.

So NO. Your coins are not safe on Coinbase, or any other place where you are not the sole person with access to the private keys.

"Invest in a cold wallet for my hard drive" doesn't make sense, please read up on this subject and ask more questions until you are confident you know all you need to.

However, of all the online exchanges you could store coins, Coinbase is supposed to be a pretty solid one. Still certainly wouldn't trust them (or anyone) with BTC if the chain-split wars start happening in a month or two.

I'm not sure if it was ignored or some of you guys missed it, but I'll ask it once more and hopefully some of you can share your opinion.

I'll also add in MTL: https://www.metalpay.com/ , which will have ICO tomorrow. Looks interesting?

In a wallet where you have the private key. A Ledger Nano or Trezor is best bet. Or use electrum on your computer. Or create your own bip38 encrypted paper wallet on www.bitaddress.org

Coinbase is probably the best and "safest" exchange to store your coins on, if you're not confident in your tech ability to store them offline without screwing it up.

They offer a vault, which requires two separate email confirmations and a 48 hour waiting period to withdraw from it. Coinbase store >95% of their coins in cold storage, at least this is what they claimed to me in an email, so if they were to be hacked, in theory, your account should be safe. If they were to become insolvent, well, that's another story.

It's not ideal to keep your coins on an exchange, but it's understandable if you're new to the crypto space and don't have a full grasp on how it all works.

USD is the only thing safe on coinbase (FDIC). This other insurance they mention for tokens is vague.

Even if you're completely new to crypto, you need to understand that the option of watching a few hours of youtube and potentially bungling the whole process on how to properly transact to cold storage is greatly superior to leaving your coins on any exchange. Just do a few tiny transactions, eat some fees or whatever and start learning. Chalk those fees/hours learning as necessary experience for the future and just test it as you go if it's your first time. Like what some other posters are saying, just a big +1 to c'mon guys seriously, do NOT leave your coins on any exchange under any circumstance & don't believe for a second somehow if Coinbase has trouble that you're 'safe.'

Id say if you got 1k or more its worth it to Order your Nanos or Trezors (offline wallet) for safe storage now, everything seems to be back ordered 20-40 days form what i hear.

I hope this is appropriate to post here,

I have recently been developing a stellar based decentralized trading client at Lupoex. Would love to hear people's thoughts, suggestions etc. (especially with the big Lumen giveaway coming up).

You can also visit Lupoex test to try it out on the stellar test network. You will need to have a test network account which you can create and fund here: https://www.stellar.org/laboratory/#...r?network=test to use any of the actual trading functions though.

Looks really interesting.

So 66,600,000~ tokens x$.18 would give them a valuation of about $12mm? That seems really low compared to the market cap of all the other janky alt coins out there. Their team and white paper looks solid too.

I've never participated in an ICO, is there anything that I should know ahead of time? Can i just transfer ether from my Jaxx account?

EDIT: NVM on the Jaxx, just set up myetherwallet.

Added some LBRY (LBC). They really dont do any publicity, actually they prefer less PR as they are more dedicated to the product and development then hype is their mantra in their slack. Library hosted some indie films and other content last year with small scale success, seems promising. I wont mention it again. Im about 50% ETH, 40% BTC, 10% LBC now. Probably will add Stratus next.

I see some myetherwallet demo on youtube where the users hide their own wallet address. is there a reason for that?

2nd q: I have eth tokens such as REP/WINGS. should I save them under the same wallet as my eth or separately, and why?

so you buy nano ledger or trezor etc, do you need to know anything about programming to use them? Or can anyone buy and use them without any further knowledge other than the manual they come with?
