You waited for bitcoin to go up 2k and then decided it's a good time to sell your alts? Icx took a beating so you are obv selling very low. I was thinking of doing the same but felt like I shoulda done it 4 days ago so just holding alts

I should clarify, I already had some BTC from much lower. I just wanted to put a little more in. Some Alts weren't doing well against this bounce.

Maybe he's making a sacrifice to the Gods.

I just sold some BTC at 8050 to reverse the drop.

I told my friend, "The Gods are angry. I'm going to sell right now to stop this madness."

"All of it?!?"

"No, only 0.01, not even 100 USD. The Gods are not greedy. They are often vengeful but never greedy."

MAny alts didn't rise along with BTC this time so your logic is dumb. Selling ICX at 6k and 8200 makes no difference. Actually, I think ICX is higher than it was at 6k. So I'm not sure what your point is.

oh my bad is alt season coming? I should buy. Solid tech solid team.

lol "Solid tech solid team" got you to bag-hold it in the first place!
what changed in the project to make you want to sell near the bottom?

. No ETF's this time, and based on SEC comments doesn't seem likely for now.

Not to blow your mind but that might be because people keep selling the bottom.

I created an account on CEX.IO to buy some XRP. I bought 3.500€ worth of XRP and this shows up in my transaction history after I noticed a lower than expected balance:

FEES 86.49 Bought 3111.382523 XRP at 0.3971 EUR
FEES 19.43 Bought 703.200000 XRP at 0.3948 EUR
FEES 1.65 Bought 60.000000 XRP at 0.392 EUR
FEES 121.41 Bought 4425.513082 XRP at 0.3919 EUR

So I basically paid like over 6% in fees. Is this normal for XRP / CEX.IO?

8300 xrp bought + 230 xrp fees = ~ 2.8% fees.

iirc cex.io has some really stupid fees, not sure why anyone would use them

It's 230€, not 230 XRP.

I usually buy at coinbase, but I wanted to also get into XRP which coinbase doesn't offer.

There is also no mention in the FAQ or support docs of fees anywhere close to what I got charged. I'll email them and ask what's up, but I'll not hold my breath. Live and learn I guess.

Oh well, I figured it out. I used the prominent "Buy/Sell" button instead of the "Trade" button. At the bottom of the "Buy/Sell" page it there is a link "How it works" that shows a popup with the following content:

Quote:
This service, provided by CEX.IO, simplifies buying and selling on the exchange, and is based on Fill-or-Kill (FOK) orders.

FOK orders are executed immediately and in full or are not executed at all.

In other words, with FOK orders, CEX.IO guarantees that its users will receive not less than the agreed amount of cryptocurrency for the agreed price.

How does it work?

CEX.IO calculates the price and freezes it for 120 seconds. The service exchange rate is adjusted to mitigate the risks connected with price fluctuations.

At any given moment, you input the amount of money you wish to spend and you see the amount of cryptocurrency you can receive, according to the service exchange rate, or vice versa.

If the situation on the market allows the execution of your order on conditions not worse than you agreed on, the order will be filled. The order can also be filled on more favourable conditions.

If there is a sudden spike in the exchange rate — preventing the execution of the order on the agreed conditions — you will be notified upon the submission of the order.

After you confirm the trade, your order is matched to other orders on the exchange — sometimes the amount can be even greater than agreed on, but is never smaller.

What is the fee for this service?

CEX.IO takes a 7% fee for the service which is charged from the amount of fiat currency.
I wonder how many people fall into the trap of just quickly clicking "Buy/Sell".

In a way it's pretty funny that people buy XRP AND pay a 7% fee, if it wasn't bad enough already.

Idk why you felt the need to call my logic dumb all i was saying is that icx took a beating while bitcoin went up a lot hence why I think just holding icx woulda been better

For many people that logic isn't dumb, because they have a portion of their portfolio that is dedicated to crypto. That's one of the reasons why alts are valued in satoshis instead of dollars. The alternative for ICX isn't dollars, if you've already made the decision that it should be in some kind of crypto.
