It's a Mastercoin/Ethereum type coin that required bitcoins to be destroyed in order to create the new coins which created a very level playing field for initial distribution. The burn period ended last night.

Fixed burn period is ******ed. Burning makes sense if you want to make a transition and you don't want to piss off Bitcoin early adopters. Besides that, it's hilariously bad, because you are better to donate all the Bitcoins to a foundation type thing, then sell them on the market while buying up your coin to drive the price up.

No idea who this guy who created it is, but we are awfully close to Pets.com. I'm sticking with Amazon.

I never suggested that you or anyone else buy it. I never suggested that it was better than bitcoin.

There is information out there on proof of burn. Your proposed solution is not equal to or greater than proof of burn.

I didn't claim you were giving advise, just commenting on the subject matter.

A fixed time proof of burn is silly. It just proves whoever is running this isn't good at thinking about things. It does not bode well for the coin.

Okay, lets not derail this thread with a discussion of something that hasn't even launched yet.

What's been going on with Vertcoin? jeesh it seems like just finding these ones before they get onto Cryptsy is a super profitable endeavor (even for just pumping/dumping).

if you're talking about ethereum, it's the only technology that looks interesting enough to supplant BitCoin.

unfortunately, their most recent blog posts make it sound like they have significant technological problems to solve before they can pull it off.

Very strong community, good use cases where choosing Dogecoin is better than Bitcoin, and a team that understands how to execute. It's still a good buy given the potential.

Does anyone know what site is the "Techcrunch of Bitcoin" ?

I'm looking for a news site about Bitcoin from people who know what they're talking about. Interested in keeping up about new coins that are gaining traction, about to arrive at new exchanges, or analyses for why something is exploding.

Mining reward will be cut in half in about 8-10 days, this will reduce the supply of coins being auto-sold on the exchanges by a lot. I would be surprised if we do not see prices of 200+ satoshi within the next three weeks. Buying now at 145 looks like a great bet IMO.

What are your (or anyone's) thoughts on the announcement that dogecoin will constantly have more supply made? I know it has hurt the price some but are you factoring this in?

It's fairly insignificant in the long run to be honest. It might actually be helpful in terms of network security.

To be honest, I'm shocked that there aren't more alt-coin mining wars between the different coins using the same algorithms. Then again, it's probably better to just mine and sell for your preferred currency. But you could have big holders of various alts offering bounties to attack other alts.

• When a Hunter is killed, 4% of the coins they held will be taken by miners. The rest will be dropped to the ground.
• Hardware Miners should receive in total (over time) 20% of the Block Reward (2 Coins) + Player Death Taxes.

• Integrated Client Chat – Player can chat per block.
• Starting cost per Player is 1 HUC – this may be adjusted via hardfork if it becomes too expensive to “Enter the World”, and the consensus agrees.

Well I have put a ton on doge coin starting since a few days ago, fwiw.

I was very resistant to the idea since its not innovative at all but the interwebs aren't rational either so here we are.
