How is NKLA even still listed lol.

The list of sheit coins you could "invest" in kept growing everyday.
3d printing, crypto companies, cannabis companies. there have been a few of these sector stories over the past few years.
let's see what happens when people wake up after q1 or q2 and the biggest seller of evs is good old volkswagen.

I used to think that having a legacy be #1 global BEV would knock down TSLA but am beginning to vacillate. TSLA can always increase sales with price cuts and cover up margins with accounting shifts (lower warranty reserves, recognize FSD revenue..etc). Usually these schemes end when financing runs dry. So far TSLA can raise at will (so far 1 or 2 per year! since inception) and with the SP500 inclusion, expect another round or two coming. So this game can be extended for a few years yet as long as "production constrained" is the narrative.

yeah, tsla has the cheapest cost of capital and autonomous driving is the perfect thing to sell to shareholders for the next few years.
but some of the startup names that are trading for billions and don't even have a product right now will become hard to sell.

Is it too expensive to get on XPENG now? On one hand valuationwise, it probably is after the latest 300+% spike. On another hand, the new strat by hedge funds is to pump $$$ into booming/hype stocks like that and based on that approach, there's no reason it can't take advantage from the ZM effect and go to $100-$150 or so.

The # of new YouTube channels popping up to talk about how to "invest" in these EV companies is quite telling. Again another almost identical signal to all the crypto channels that started popping up back in 2017. Even Doug Polk got sucked into the hype for awhile.

Pick your lottery ticket carefully.

lol the bears aren't even attempting to make coherent arguments vs Tesla anymore. Should go back to the story about mexican drug cartel running an operation out of freemont.

Elon must be insane, planning to make batteries themselves for 2M vehicles/year just from Berlin.

Quote:
Last week, we reported on how Tesla started hiring for its battery cell factory at Gigafactory Berlin.

Now Elon Musk commented on what kind of battery capacity Tesla plans to deploy at the site in a new battery conference in Europe:

The CEO said about the new battery factory:

I think it will possibly be the largest battery cell plant in the world. I think it will be the largest. It will be capable of over 100 GWh per year and possibly over time, it will be going over 200 to 250 GWh. I’m pretty confident that at that point, it will be the largest battery cell plant in the world.

Bloomberg estimates that 250 GWh is just under the current world production capacity for li-ion battery cells — though that could more than double by the time Tesla reaches that kind of capacity at Gigafactory Berlin
That is just the high nickel long range batteries, then they intend to buy even more low cost short range LFP batteries from suppliers. Is he seriously planning on making 4M+ cars per years just for Europe?! Go big or go broke? Go big and go broke?

Couple that info with the fact that Elon is always overly pessimistic in his predictions.

I had a dream where I was choosing a self-driving taxi from a large car vending machine in the future and the logos on the buttons to choose from were Porsche, Ford, Cadillac, or Tesla.

The Porsche Taycan EV looks pretty good. VW is the parent organization of Porsche but is VWAGY the best way to invest in it? Or is there a better way with one of the small Porsche stocks? Which one? The way things are named and described for some foreign companies is confusing.

Have you talked with any owner? They are pretty rare(given their 11k sales Q1-Q3), but before you invest too much I suggest you do. As a Tesla owner I can tell you that the most important feature is the charging network and there Porsche seem to be struggling:
https://www.theguardian.com/money/20...arging-network

I have used Porsche chargers a few times, they have worked fine for me, but they are pretty rare...

You know I bought one stock back in March 2020 and it was like $330 or something? Now, it's worth like $2500 or something crazy like that? Why didn't I buy more?

Had to chuckle at the juxtaposition of several different headlines tonight:

-Tesla pushes back previously stated expected Cybertruck delivery date.
-Tesla pushes back its previously stated timeline for autonomous driving vehicles.
-Musk expects SpaceX to put people on Mars by 2026.

$585 seems a pretty bad day to be a bear with skin in the game.

Just got back from Cali. Was visiting a friend who went out there a couple years ago to work for Tesla. Him and his buddies almost gave up after the first 6 months. They stuck with it and now he has $3 mil in stock and his buddies $6 mil and $20 mil. This guy was working a super average supervisor type job before he left out there (maybe $70k/year). He was stressing because the line shut down for a couple hours and I heard him on the phone "I'll tell "xxxx" about it and he can tell Elon. "xxxx" is the guy with $20 mil in stock.

I can't remember the exact amount they can sell, but it is on the small side. It just has me wondering how this all works and is this standard for most companies to pay a high % in bonuses and stuff in stock that you can't sell for a while?. It's just mind blowing the money these guys have run into in such a short period. Something doesn't seem right.

sounds like restricted shares.

basically existing shareholders pay via dilution. so as long as they are ok with paying millions to what sounds like midlevel management, why not?

what can go wrong?
