other stuff from this week:

- model Y roof falls off while someone's driving
- tsla no longer has a PR team

all totally normal company things

tsla insider trades is the most amazing thing i've looked at in a while.

all those board people who do absolutely nothing just getting thousands and thousands of new shares basically every month and selling them hand over fist.

-delivered 11.3k in China in September, pretty much flat all 3 months
-S price cuts everywhere

China growth done, EU growth done, only 3/Y selling in US and 3 sales are down. i'm a bear obv and again i'm always wrong but i don't see the growth story.

also elon said limited FSD beta released next tuesday and he says this is the real deal lol

Like you said, the leak pumps are getting weaker and weaker. What does "real deal" limited FSD beta even mean lol. I guess hes gotta respond to the Waymo news somehow, considering most of their valuation is based off being the leader in the FSD game. Gotta wonder how long until the P/E starts to reflect a normal car company. The stock price is still effectively 2200+ right now with P/E of 250, or whatever. TD shows 1100, but I don't think that is correct. Honda is 20 pe and Toyota is 12.

I drove a 4runner with advanced lane assist on a long road trip and it was pretty fantastic. Would follow the curves of the road super smooth. Slow you down when your cruise control got within 4 or 5 car lengths of something going slower. Proximity alerts. Having my car turn for me wouldn't add much value, but I probably pay closer attention to my surrounds than 99% of other drivers and wouldn't even feel comfortable letting my car drive me. Most definitely not in a beta stage

construction at the "giga" factory berlin has stopped because tesla hasn't paid its water bill.

this will be the most amazing finance story ever when it all comes crashing down.

Now we know why Tesla is pushing out the “beta” next week. Waymo and Cruise going driverless in same week proving what we’ve been saying for years- Tesla is way behind.

Make no mistake though, this is a positive for Tesla stock price in the short term. It won’t become obvious to the cult how far behind they are for quite some time due to Tesla’s greater risk tolerance and because any advance in robotaxis by anyone is perceived as a psoitive for the robotaxi meme tech stock.

all his stupid lidar talk from a few years ago became even funnier this week, when apple started putting one in every phone.

They will/already are framing as running a difference race. Waymo/Cruise running to win the level 4 (non-scalable) while they are on the verge (1-2 years) of level 5. But of course the probability of level 5 in the next 10 years is almost surely zero.

Another crack showing, but there is still construction happening so I don’t think it will be this crack that will finally break Tesla

you think halting production is the problem here? lol

of course they paid it after every news agency wrote about it.

what does the story tell us about management and internal controls? think this happens at vw or google?

funny side note: the vw factory in wolfsburg has 2 powerplants and a reserve water pond the size of teslas whole factory in berlin.

No production even happening in Berlin, it’s just a sand pit!

Tesla getting pretty desperate, lowering prices of S twice in a week, increasing range of Model 3 by 5%, adding liftgate and new interior. Model X range now 600km. Clearly they are doing this because demand is lacking and they need to pump Q4. $69420 price for Model S just show what a joke the company is...

RANGE INCREASE
Model 3 Standard Range Plus is now 263 miles (from 250 miles).
Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor AWD: 353 miles (from 322 miles).
Model 3 Performance: 315 miles (from 299 miles).
Model Y Long Range Dual Motor AWD: 326 miles (from 315 miles).
Model Y Performance: 303 miles (from 298 miles).

You are incredibly gullible. The range increase isn't meaningfully measurable. It's a software trick to fool the gullible. Mission:accomplished when it comes to heltok.

And yes it's very obvious that production >>>>>> demand. That's always been the case since about 6 months after Model 3 started consistently producing in volume. Tesla are demand limited, not production limited. Which is why they're reducing prices.

Not that it matters much. Model S and X have been dying for a while and it's normal to try and move old unwanted cars that still have legacy lines. The real story is that the Model Y is a big flop and a gigantic DO NOT WANT from the public. This is surprising to me; I thought it would have decent demand given the size of the market. I guess taking a Model 3 and stretching it up slightly and calling it a SUV was a bit of a dumb idea.

Getting really desperate to reach 500k deliveries this year:
• Tesla Model X Long Range Dual Motor: now 371 miles up from 351 miles
• Tesla Model X Performance: now 341 miles up from 305 miles
• Model S Performance: now 387 miles up from 348 miles

Lowering the prices in Norway 8% and $7k in Australia. Getting so desperate they are not even shipping cars to EU this year just to manufacture an artificially good Q4:

What makes you say Model Y is a flop? Still seems too early to tell IMO. Plus they can pull all the same levers as they did with Model 3--cheaper variants, price cuts, sell internationally after US sales stall--to drum up at least a few more quarters of strong demand.

they can do whatever they want as long as shareholders are willing to foot the bill.

they've been selling dollars for 90 cents for more than a decade now.

when does the story change? when cruise and waymo have robotaxis driving around? when vw is the biggest ev producer next year? who knows...

Model Y is as a big flop as Model 3, ID3 is totally killing its sales in Norway and will soon kill it in America! Why else would they be retroactively trying to fake range numbers? Seems desperate to me!

ER: https://tesla-cdn.thron.com/static/4...-Update.pdf%22

Terrible results, I expected 0.78 EPS, actual was blow at 0.76.

+1.4B FCF was okay I guess. 27.7% automotive margins a bit lower than I expected, but for Q4 with 180k deliveries it should lead to a decent FCF. $15B in cash should keep them alive a few more quarters before they finally go bankrupt.

do you ever wonder, how their cash goes up 6b but their interest income down 2m?

is it good when sharecount grows 3x faster than revenue? asking for a friend.
