Here is to hoping. Might hop on this August put train. Every time I trade Tesla I tell myself "never again", but here I am. Pure addict to pain, masochistic.

Someone put $150mm into 12/20 and 1/21 $380 puts today too. Probably part of a hedge, but still a big buy to be aware of.
Out at 5.90

so that morgan stanley guy adam jonas is out with a new note saying tsla totally has all the liquidity it needs to fund the business and every expansion and they definitely don't need to raise any money at all.

last few times this was a pretty good indicator that a raise is imminent for some new and unexpected big thing that is totally real and coming soon and definitely the only reason they need all that new cash.

I really do think a raise is imminent because of the plant re-opening. Right now is Musk's window to get the best terms. If he waits any longer the specter of lockdowns will return.

By the precedent of always announcing some BS - wouldn’t we expect a new product announcement if a raise were imminent?

the next big great thing in the pipeline according to bulls is "battery day" - the battery equivalent of autonomy day from last year. last update was that it is supposed to happen 3rd week of may (that would be next week) according to an elon tweet but nothing is actually scheduled.

If they beat Toyota and a lot of others to solid state batteries at mass scale in cars, I wouldn't be surprised. Although its probably due to their purchase of Maxwell Technologies rather than in-house tech.

I never said it would be near the quality of Toyota, just that they would be in production first. Tesla has a strong history of pushing out beta-ware tech on their customers: autopilot, solar roofs, etc.

Toyota is still projecting mid-2020's (2025 last I checked) for solid state batteries.

let's throw solid state batteries on that pile of awesome tesla stuff that is definitely all coming soon.

That's why this stock surge yesterday at the end of the day. Super vague announcement about batteries

This year is battery year. During April-June they always do this:

2017: 5000 Model 3s/week by the end the year. Result: 100/week

2018: "Zero doubt" of 10,000 Model 3s/week by the end of the year. Result: 4000/week.

2019: Fully Self Driving feature complete by the end of 2019 (result: summon runs over your child at 5 miles/hour), 1 million robotaxis by the end of of 2020 pulling in $30K/year in profit of which Tesla gets $10K/car (result: 0 robotaxis and none coming)

2020: "Amazing" new battery tech which is going to blow away the competition

Robotaxi con (which many investors including Musk dislikers naively believed was possible to probable when it was a fat zero) >>>>>>> battery con imo. Might get a little pump on it but it's not a moon thesis for cucks like the robotaxis were.

Is Elon Musk a Fraud?

Quote:
But that’s by the by, and this is not a show about Tesla or its cars. I’m not here to question them but to question him: Musk, the man, the brand, the cult.

Yes, cult. Because there are a certain type of people — often young, male, anti-establishment, a bit libertarian — who hang on his every word. Especially online, where they defend their guru, their prophet, their hero — on social media, on YouTube — with all the intensity, and even viciousness, that you’d expect from cult members.

And, by the way, on the subject of cults and fanboys, even Donald Trump has heaped praise on Elon Musk.

...

But, look, Musk is a true BS merchant, and the ultimate attention seeker, whether on Twitter or in real life.

What's he pulled in on the FSD scam, separate from "autopilot"? North of a billion dollars I'd guess. Most of the $150 billion market cap in pump as well.

Tesla's basically a $10 billion valuation car company selling vaporware and speculation instruments (Tesla stocks). I'm quite impressed.

yea thats the retail guy on the tsla call last year when elon dissed the wallstreet analysts. I think i found his channel from this thread and i check him out from time to time mainly for entertaining looksy in cultists minds, not that there is alpha there but i personally find it fascinating

on another note, this nikola motors got the tesla playbook wide opened looks like so if the bubbly market environment keeps up maybe it has potential to be a good bubble stock, but havent looked closely into it yet
