Probably most likely is a combination of drugs + frustrations: loser weirdo druggie in his life who he knocked up, having to put out a very obviously fraudulent earnings to keep his stock price up, and afraid of the heat that's generating, and feeling trapped and frustrated with his factories closed and an uncertain future.

Hats off to Amber Heard though. She completely ruined Musk mentally, which led him to Grimes and more drugs/disorganization. This is her second scalp after Johnny Depp. One of the most successfully toxic females around imo.
I think it was the Crazy Eddie CEO who said that it wasn't the shorts that ruined him, but rather the lunatic longs who popped his stock from 8 to 80 that caused his downfall, since he had to up the fraud to match the analyst notes and lunatic bull theses, and it became impossible at some point.

Probably Elon is undergoing the same problem right now with Fremont being non-operational until June.

The Crazy Eddie story is hilarious. The fraud went on for 19 years, until their financials were so attractive that some genius businessmen decided to do a hostile takeover to own it. The owning family outbid them and the businessmen came straight over the top. Their auditors then discovered the fraud and they lost all their money as the company went bankrupt.

Im planning yolo all-in here, but i am wondering if it would be smarter to wait for the Fremont factory opening news first and load the puts then? That will surely be a nice pump.

markets are efficient

Ferrari tops Detroit Three, Tesla tops all

Quote:

Following bumper earnings that sent shares of the sports carmaker up 7% on Monday, Ferrari's market cap ($29.8B) is now worth more than each of the Detroit Three - GM ($29.3B), F ($19.2B) and FCAU ($13B).

Investors are betting on Ferrari's storied brand name and profit margins despite producing a fraction of the other major carmakers (about 10,000 vehicles a year vs. GM's 7.7M), while shares have tripled in value since its IPO in late 2015.

Speaking of market cap figures, Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is worth more than all of the above-mentioned automakers combined at $130B, putting Elon Musk on track for a $700M payout just days after saying the EV maker's stock was too high.

TSLA short looked tempting but I went with the Wayfair "W" short instead. It's too hard to short this stock - always screws up the timing

now that big boy got his bonus, is there any reason to keep stock price inflated? the one that comes to mind is that if they post any profit in q2 they are eligible for S&P 500 inclusion. is this desirable for them? i think yes but i'm thinking on level 0

if it is desirable, i think there's a world where they eek out a profit despite terrible deliveries everywhere but China. specifically 1) claim a bunch of regulatory credits, 2) fraud out in accounts receivable still 1b+, 3) claim as much of the FSD revenue they've taken as they want with the reasoning that stoplight and stopsign recognition is pretty much FSD (also to note i've seen some bulls recently differentiating between "FSD" and "full autonomy" -- that the former is here by 2021 or w/e and the latter is many years in the future).

no idea how much FSD cash they're sitting on. i vaguely remember zach saying they recognize about 50% but haven't really seen this talked about. is this right or no?

Where would they allow 'Tesla FSD' into traffic without a driver?

I mean other than in Georgia.

Teenagers will be handed driving licences without taking a test under new coronavirus rules in Georgia.

Under the regulations designed to account for social distancing restrictions in the US state, parents will be asked to make the final decision as to whether their children should be granted a licence to get behind the wheel.

According to Forbes' article on Elon's payday:

Quote:
According to the most recent quarterly report, he must hold onto any acquired shares for at least five years. Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
Can someone confirm he can't sell the shares acquired through exercising his new options?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/hayleyc...n-payday-tesla

Edit to add: if so, doesn't that mean he has a huge tax liability, no cash, and explain why he would sell his homes and sabotage the stock price (to reduce tax liability)? Or maybe he can sell other shares that he has owned for long enough?

The vesting period on an option award is expected (5 years is long but this is also a huge award).

There are no taxes until he sells and realizes a gain.

(*AFAIK)

I believe the bonus is tranche 1 of 12, next requires 6 months @ average market cap 150B plus some other conditions.

That Fremont is a bottleneck has been reported extensively.

Yeah, despite Musk's lies late last year/earlier this year, China factory is a long way from local production, they need battery packs from Nevada and many many parts from Fremont. They're basically an imported US parts assembly plant at this point.

the 2020-roadster is delayed until after they've released the cybertruck and might be pushed back to 2022.

i'm shocked, i tell you. who could have seen that coming?
