No way Tesla is able to start producing anything resembling actual hospital quality respirators any time soon. The basic functions of a ventilator are pretty straightforward though. It's simply a question of whether all of the usual regulatory hurdles will be waived in a crisis such as we find ourselves in.

Is a crappy ventilator that has a 50% chance of working correctly better than no ventilator at all when you've got potentially thousands of people who will almost certainly die without one? I would argue that it is but I don't know if that's enough of an argument to bypass all of the normal steps put in place to ensure that the devices are safe.

Regardless I don't see how this matters to their financials much. It's good PR, which of course matters, but selling 10,000 crappy ventilators at say $30k each (I think a real one costs about $50k) doesn't move the needle much for Tesla. As mentioned it might allow them a waiver to keep the factory open and producing cars which would be far more important to them.

But yeah, very few Tesla's gonna be sold in the next few months regardless.

i think its fine selling puts before delivery report, i would be cautious doing so into the EC, the biggest risk in the reported numbers is the limited ability to window dress cash burn DESPITE Q1 deliveries being ~ok

i think it was shared here because this is where i get all my tesla schadenfreude but they mentioned they were doing no contact delivery - they'd leave it somewhere nearby and you can approach by yourself and unlock with the app - then you fill out the paperwork that's been left in the car and drop it off in a box

i cant even imagine the total shitboxes they will unload on people that agree to this

FWIW, my position is short equity, short weekly puts, long LEAPs. I basically do a put spread every week of selling weekly puts to buy more LEAPs

No, bearish long term, but front vol is extremely expensive and market feels rippy. So I want to limit my close exposure to just the equity short as mitigated from shorting puts.

I'm positioned short such that even if TSLA rips to 1000 (not happening) I don't give any cares and I will have plenty of cash to reshort.
