If you're Tesla, is it better to voluntarily shutdown, or get a hard order to shutdown, in terms of accessing bailouts?

Irrelevant. Once they roll out the first robotaxi (any day now) they will definitely be reclassified as an essential business.

They already had a hard order to shut down. It was a shelter in place order and all non-essential businesses to shut. They ignored it so now the sheriff got involved. Makes zero difference to bailouts.

If someone offered you 10,000:1 on this prediction when Tesla was at $180 in June last year:

1. Tesla will go to $920 on no major event
2. A global pandemic will cause the Tesla factory to shut down (along with the entire world). The sheriff will be called to shut the factory down after Musk defies the "shelter in place" quarantine order because it's 2 weeks before the end of quarter.
3. Tesla drops to the 200s soon after

You wouldn't have taken the bet.

If TSLA were to get a bailout then pretty much everyone gets a bailout right? $1T stimulus package won't get the job done though. It will need to be more like $10T.

I can't stop looking at my puts. If this runs down to 300 or lower in the next couple of weeks I'll be looking at a 40x+ on my main position. Pure insanity.

I want to post a screen shot as a brag but I'll try to hold off until I actually sell the bulk. Trimmed some May 15 200s between 10.50 and 13, and mildly regretting that as it looks like this still has legs. Been operating under a 350 price target, but as others have pointed out, 200s seems like a no brainer in this environment

I think Tesla will not be allowed to go bankrupt just because of how much attention the company gets. It would have a significantly bigger impact than the money needed to keep the company alive.

Share price will drop to something like 190 or something? I think below 200 it'll be a mental price for people to think it's good to buy again.

If this crash does not uncover creative accounting going on at Tesla, 190 also is a good price. When this is over it'll shoot up again to ridiculous valuations.

Keeps a low price target while everything is fine. Raises it into a factory shutdown and global crisis that will devastate Tesla's sales and easy capital for many quarters to come.

I don't think Q1 is going to be SUPER awful, getting a decent amount of RORO's out combined with some friendly accounting estimates and you book a sub $!b loss and $1b cash burn and blame CV19, but i don't see a situation where Q2 is anything but a disaster
