And he covered again for half his position. Time to go down again I guess

Imagine being invested with this clown. I guess Tesla doesn't die until all of Spiegel's investors have left him and the fund is wound up. Then we get $0 in a few months.

That's my question actually.

Let's say this does crash (which I still think it will)

It will likely be fairly quick, but what Will borrow rate just sky rocket and available borrow dry up?

I imagine yes, and very quick.

What kind of future sales volume and profits does TSLA need to justify this price?

Perp walk it crashes quickly. Is that likely? I don't know. There is clearly major criminal fraud here, but it's less egregious than either Madoff or Enron or Crazy Eddie, and they survived for 30 years, 5 years and 20 years, and only fell apart due to a market crash or hostile takeover discovering the books.

I think any reasonable analysis will get you to 5% perp walk while they're making nice profit. And puts are the play in that situation, not shorting.

The other 95% you have ample advanced warnings.

I think there are enough silly people in this stock that even perp walk will have time to get in. Musk has turned believing in Tesla to a religion. Remember $420 funding secured?

for an established premium car company growing at a low rate, i would guess 150-200b in revenue and 10-15b in net income.

This is bananas. I took too much heat after earnings and got out with my tail between my legs at $350 and was telling myself mechanics be damned, I'll regret it. Next I told myself this is a no-brainer short at $500. I haven't got in yet but $550 seems like a nice target if they're crawling up there and not blasting up $30 at a time.

It's fun to watch and I have no clue when the music will stop but there will be fireworks IMO. Too tempting not to take a shot at some point here.

What are the bulls thinking here? Holding out for 1k? Musk will completely humiliate every other major competitor?

pretty much my exact tract, i took a smallish loss after Q3 2019 earnings, but a much larger loss on the runup to Q3 19 earnings, licked wounds and got out around $350

This runup is nuts. Biggest question i have now is if I can convince myself im not savvy enough to trade this stock or if i gamble because i still beliee the underlying thesis is unchanged. Every bull argument is terrible. People still quote Elon as if he tells the truth about stuff.

unsure if this has been posted yet, but if you have the time this is an amazing read

Of course, Ross Gerber says he doesnt read slander, so there is that too.

I think the most frustrating part of Tesla is watching morons and shills make money on it (not the traders, they are fine, it's the cult morons that annoy me)

Agree. The morons with 6 shares following papa musk's lead and bragging about short burns as if they'd ever heard of short selling before their fearless leader started crying about it are the worst people in existence. But they are still buying and won't stop until reality hits them so there will be justice.

That said, I applaud the traders that are taking advantage of them. I wish I'd had the balls to buy calls 3-4 weeks ago when I said this **** feels exactly like bitcoin 2017. Might not be too late to ride the bubble.

I'm going to be laddering into a short pretty quickly. Haven't taken a position yet because it's a pain in the ass to open up a brokerage/margin account and it's like getting in front of a moving truck. I'd like to see like a week of consolidation first, ideally. Tentative game plan is just don't get over-leveraged (so I can also even add to it if need be) and ofc be prepared to be underwater for months if it plays out that way. I've seen stuff like this too many times (mostly from crypto) to not try and take advantage of major market FOMO/momentum stuff and the name of the game is pretty much don't get liquidated/stay alive until the market sorts itself out.

TSLA reminds me of AOL circa 1999-2000

At the moment, TSLA has a bigger market cap than:
GM + F together
Volkswagen
Caterpillar
Morgan Stanley
Gilead Sciences
Blackrock
Target
Raytheon

The joke is gonna be on all of us if they merge with Caterpillar like AOL/Time-Warner

So at what price do they run out of money to keep buying? $600? $700? $1000?

TLRY, a tiny pot business in Canada with $30 million/quarter in revenue, went up to $30 billion valuation in 2018 ($2 billion now and on a fresh rip). Altcoins went to $300 billion.

Lot of dumb money in the market (and then you have the other dumb short money like Spiegel covering).
