Reducing CapEx + taking restructuring charges = hypergrowth company

Inventory up QoQ = UNLIMITED DEMAND, BRO

The 10-Q will be interesting

It went up $90 on pure air, surely the market deities can be kind enough to let it go back down much harder.

i'm old enough to remember when elon managed to mumble the stock down $30 during the earnings call or when the cfo retired all of a sudden.
there's still a lot that can happen today.

It went up $85 on demand death being nowhere near as bad as it could have been, not "pure air". Tesla could have been done for last quarter if Q1's horrible sales death continued, that's why the stock sold down so heavily. As Q2 dragged on and it became clear that while things were still bad, demand was sufficient for death not to be imminent, it ran back up off lows. It all seems quite rational to me.

Agreed that the prickly narcissist has the ability to screw the pooch on the CC though, Enron/Skilling style. I think the China pump is pretty solid however (the pump, not the reality).

What should happen on the call is analyst questions hammering on Q3/Q4 profit and delivery guidance.

The letter attempted to weasel out of previous guidance.

They need 135k deliveries a quarter just to break even at last quarters prices, and they just lowered prices again. Current quarter demand isn't even matching up with last quarter. Complete dumpster fire after Ripon $90 on fabricated optimism

some of my favorite quotes so far from the r/teslainvestorsclub who have been spiking the ball hard on the move from 180 to 250 and record deliveries:

"Reality is that considering how the whole market has been shifting toward SUVs, I strongly believe Elon made the strategic mistake of building Model 3 first just to chase after an artificial price point for PR reason ($35k EV, which isn't even available anymore anyway), instead of building the Model Y first, which has a much more popular body form, higher average selling price and much higher potential margin."

"I'm pretty new at this, but the numbers seemed pretty good to me. Any idea why the stock is plummeting? I'm holding either way, but just curious."

"Well I’m long too and continue to hold but I think missed expectations possibly causing stock to drop ? including possibly Elon on Twitter saying record quarter on all fronts ?

I’m not too unhappy with the results though"

"They did well on gross margins and operating cash flow which are more important metrics as of now."

"$5B Cash on hand. How are they going to go bankrupt again?"

"They met the guidance laid out in Q1. They hit the target on where the deliveries would be. They hit the target that they would have FCF, but have a loss. In my book, this Q was a success. On to Q3!"

"Just went through the report, it sums up in a company making money for each car it sells, while increasing its production capability with a demand that seems above the capacity offering ... and have 5B$ at hand...

Can anybody explain me what is wrong with this picture? Really I am not joking ... what am I missing here?"

"Ya, I'm impressed by cash flow from operations. They are printing money. They're a million miles away from bankruptcy."

Hes talking about the journalistic integrity of Motortrends... wat

"People don't understand exponential growth"

"cash flow positive going forward, breakeven this quarter, profitable next quarter, I feel pretty confident about that" (how long ago was profitable in all future quarters? 6 months? 9?)

Hes really hard to listen to. He just stumbles every single line and goes off on mini tangents that have nothing to do with earnings

Stock down 6$ after announcing JB gone

"Unit margin is really interesting when considering FSD"

Long term China demand is "5000 a week"

eu-evs now at 80% of Q1. That's the most bullish thing I can find out there right now.
