If Musk is ousted, what does that mean for Tesla's ability to raise capital?

Aside from whatever happens to Musk the SEC is likely to file suit against Tesla as well. Surely that torpedoes any hope they had of raising money from anyone (debt/equity/spare change/etc).

Lets see the TSLA HODLers HODL through this!

Hello Elon:

I'm newish to options. Thinking about some TSLA puts with $500 for fun and profit after Q3 results.

Jan 2020 $100 $10.15 - $10.40
June 2020 $100 $12.00 - $15.25
Jan 2020 $100 $16.45 - $16.50

Why is the June 2020 bid/ask so wide?

I had been thinking about doubling my put position all week. Kicking myself now.

Looks like he is going to try and fight it:

Quote:
WSJ: The complaint filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission came after a last-minute decision by Mr. Musk and his lawyers to fight the case rather than settle the charges.
Lolz on tap.

Of course he's going to fight it. If not he would have resigned already. The SEC stuff is just the appetizer, can bar him from being an officer and that's it. The DoJ stuff coming later is jail time.

Classic

I've been amazed at the level of delusion that educated people are capable of. No wonder he thinks he can get away with saying anything.
Tesla was never going to survive without subsidies.

I knew SEC would do something. I thought it would be a slap on the wrist but apparently Musk wouldn't even accept a slap on the wrist so now SEC is going for Musk's throat.

Just wtf is Musk's lawyers doing? There is literally not a single securities lawyer I know that would recommend NOT settling. Just wtf are they thinking.

I'm 99.9% Musk is going against his legal counsel. And since Musk is the client, what he says goes.

Yea his lawyers are thinking the same thing trump's lawyers are thinking. Why is my client too stupid and egotistical to listen to me?

Anyone have access to TEsla paydex or D&B rating? I could probably get this info at my work. I am very curious to see how quickly they are paying their vendors.

Usually when the bid/ask spread is that wide it's just because it's thinly traded or when the market is closed. When a real order appears (and ALWAYS use limit orders for options) the spread will narrow to something more realistic.

And I assume you probably know this already but just in case you don't, you can't purchase any of those options with $500 since every option contract is for 100 shares of stock. Multiply all of the numbers you see by 100.

Citi downgrades Tesla to sell permarket, cuts price target to $225 from $356, Tesla swiftly loses 3%. There should be more analyst ass-covering along those lines - the SEC gives them an easy out from their fraud pumps.

If you read the SEC complaint it's obvious that Musk is either exactly the disorganized incompetent dickhead I say he is, and/or his mind is completely gone and not coming back soon, and/or he's a pathological liar. It's there in black and white. Anyone non-insane is seeing the same thing from this hard evidence, including institutions and analysts.

IMO Moody's has to act swiftly given the civil liability this SEC action and the hard evidence in it creates (billions of dollars) and their continued incompetence at being unable to ramp manufacturing above 4K a week. Moody's specifically said Tesla needs to hit 5K/week by July 1 to keep their rating. Expect a downgrade of credit to distressed soon.

The biggest wildcard here for buying up off lows today is the shorts. They're almost as dumb as the longs and they're up billions overnight.

Oppenheimer: Tesla's legal worries will cap upside.

Needham: The latest charges by the SEC against Elon Musk for making "false and/or misleading statements" about taking the company private "all but eliminate" his credibility as a competent CEO

Barclays:
Quote:
Tesla shares could lose $130 of 'Musk premium' if SEC wins, says Barclays
07:24 EDT If the Securities and Exchange Commission succeeds in its lawsuit against Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the premium shareholders have been willing to pay for "future founder-driven business optionality" is likely to dissipate, Barclays analyst Brian Johnson tells investors in a research note titled "Lawsuit Secured."
Is Musk's tweet the greatest self-cucking in US corporate history?

1. Tanked his stock price
2. Brought criminal and civil liabilities in the billions
3. Got all his moron supporters to start crowing and then hold while it crashed, "believing in Elon".
4. Likely prevented a sorely needed capital raise to prevent bankruptcy.

Meanwhile, the entire board reiterating their "full confidence" in Musk
Quote:
Tesla and the board of directors are fully confident in Elon, his integrity, and his leadership of the company, which has resulted in the most successful U.S. auto company in over a century.
Which does anything but invite confidence in the board and also strengthens liability claims against Tesla.

.
Will be the most infamous in business history, talked about for decades, and number 1 in youtube "Top Five Meltdown" videos.

In the UK, we had Gerald Rattner, who took down his own national jewelry chain by saying he sells crap. Musk makes him look competent.
