Apparently Musk had some words for Einhorn. Said he will send him some short shorts in the mail.

If you honestly have the thesis that this company will go out of cash and this is your primary driver for the short, then stop the shorts now.

Going short at $50bn market cap because you think the company is running out of money is stupid. You can gain the same by going short at $23bn market cap.

The better question is: when will this stock finally correct? Presumably when they are profitable for two quarters and the marktet realizes that they aren't making $10bn p.a. in profits.

Why would they need to earn $10b a year to justify a $50b market cap? That's the dumbest thing you've said in a while.

Musk has done enough to get an equity capital raise through. A debt issue may be shaky since its bond yields seem to imply a rating of somewhere in the CCC to B- range but they may get one through if it's a convertible bond/bond + warrants issue.

They should be able to pick up a few billion bucks to get through another year that way.

has anyone read the walt disney biography?

seeing elon walk the tightrope with tesla reminds me a lot of the 200-straight pages detailing disney avoiding drowning/bankruptcy in the early years... again and again and again and again.

the book about tesla when its all said and done is gonna be great, busto or success. theres clearly some stuff we are not privvy to that will make awesome reading material.

At this rate and given the HODL and FOMO of the investors, Tesla is going to declare bankruptcy while trading north of 300. That would be a historical moment.

All one has to do is spend 5 minutes looking at their balance sheet to realized how FUBARed they are. I've seen companies declare bankruptcy with better balance sheets than Tesla's. And this is with end of quarter window dressing!

Elon Musk is going to grind it out until there is literally zero cash left in the coffers or he is forced into involuntary bankruptcy.

But if they're trading above $300 they can just do an equity raise for enough cash to last another year+.

Then I feel sorry for you. This is basic level of reading comprehension.

This is the biggest tell that some of the bears are absolutely clueless (TS would never make such a claim, I think).

What's the problem with doing an equity raise?

Nothing, my point was: TSLA will not go bankrupt at $300, because they will have raised capital before. If they were to go bankrupt, it will be closer to $130. At those levels, they would not be able to raise cash to sustain their cash burn as well as service the debt.

Tough to do an equity raise when the SEC knows you're a serial liar (sorry, repeated utterer of "material misrepresentations").
