Exactly and that's the point Keeeed doesn't seem to get lol. Does anyone outside of the cultists believe this or a semi truck will ever happen?

wait, you think a six seat pickup truck with a range of 400 miles is not feasible? Seems plausible to me.

the car is feasible, but when and where are they gonna build it? how do they pay for the factory?

who knows, it isn't even in preliminary stages. It's in brainstorming on twitter stage.

It'll be hand built in a tent as part of the paradigm shift in manufacturing that will kill off the established auto makers.

that does not appear to be a joke.

So this happened:

Quote:
Musk says analyst has 'rude awakening' coming after bearish call, Bloomberg says
11:26 EDT Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent employees an email in response to a prediction by a Goldman Sachs analyst David Tamberrino that the company's Model 3 production will miss estimates this quarter, stating in the email that the analyst is in for a "rude awakening," Bloomberg reports, citing the email. Musk also shared a link to a CNBC story which reported that Goldman expected the company to deliver 22,000 Model 3s in the three months ending June, short of what Tamberrino said was an analyst consensus of 28,000
What is the point of this? A few options I can see:

1. Musk is insane and feels personally slighted when people don't believe in him
2. Musk is desperate to keep the stock elevated and sees the need to counter negative views to stop it from sliding and keep his lage cult following believing in him
3. Musk believes in what he's doing and wants the "I told you so" when he succeeds
4. ...........?

I don't think I've seen such behavior from a non-scam CEO. Why on Earth would anyone who's about to hit a production target do this? You let the numbers speak for themselves, they're mere days away, and besides, you're far too busy getting production done and dealing with being a CEO of three companies to be reading and writing email responses to negative analysts...right?

Whoops, sorry, my mistake. That obviously weakens the argument, but I think the point still stands and is relevant to the broader implications being made.

Have any of you guys ever actually been to a large manufacturing plant?

The fact it is likely in direct response to the drone video showing large scale fraud and its a dirt road like a half mile away

Ya i think its amazing

yeah man if you have idiots flying drones around a major manufacturing plant anywhere in the world you're going to get a security response directly responding to that. Like what world do you people live in?

Why is he an idiot? He's getting publicly available information from pubic land. All within the law. Bypassing the lying sack of **** that is Elon Musk and going directly to the source.

I love the large covering flap they've put up to cover the fact that they aren't producing much of anything there let alone a working volume assembly line as Musk implied. He is just lying again.

Imagine having billions of dollars and being such a cuck you need to email your employees about negative analyst commentary with a "you just wait!" and being paranoid about random Twitter losers undoing your lies by taking pictures of your factory from public land.

Tent in the parking lot with manual assembly line != major manufacturing plant, but whatever. I sure as hell wouldn't want to purchase any car made in that tent. That's a disaster.

What major manufacturing plants do have are walls (lol), climate control, and automated material handling processes. The idea of trying to mass produce a modern automobile in those conditions is so ludicrous I can't believe it's actually happening. I hope they at least invested in some of those high-voltage-shocker-thinggies to deal with the bugs.

$70,000 car made in a tent + bug zapper + no instrument panel but iPad stuck on dashboard = redneck galore.

Elon's sure disrupting the auto industry with his alien dreadnaught manufacturing facility.

Also, this is ****ing hilarious. Bear in mind this guy is well on public land. At 2:25 onwards someone comes out (blurred - Elon?) and throws a water bottle over the fence is an attempted assault on the camera guy

Redenck Defcon level: 2 and climbing.

That's just more LOLbears talk. The guard is obviously providing water to the drone pilot so he doesn't get dehydrated in the Nevada desert.

The video here is just gold. Live manufacturing inside the tent, entirely by hand, paying San Francisco wages. This is after 10 years in business and 10 billion in secondary capital alone and with everything they own mortgaged to get to this point. Tell me this car company has a future.

Background info:

Quote:
"Words fail me. It's insanity," said Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.'s Max Warburton, who benchmarked auto assembly plants around the world before becoming a financial analyst.

It smacks of a Hail Mary move after months of stopping and starting production to make on-the-fly fixes to automated equipment, which Musk himself has said was a mistake.

"The existing line isn't functional, it can't build cars as planned and there isn't room to get people into work stations to replace the non-functioning robots," Warburton wrote in an email. "So here we have it -- build cars manually in the parking lot."

An admission in April that he erred by putting too many robots in Tesla's plants was a humbling moment for Musk. The CEO had boasted that his company would build an "alien dreadnought," sci-fi bro code for a factory so advanced and robotic, it would be incomprehensible to primitive earthlings.

During a February earnings call, Musk told analysts that Tesla had an automated-parts conveyance system that was "probably the most sophisticated in the world." But by spring, it had been ripped out of the factory.

"We had this crazy, complex network of conveyor belts," Musk told "CBS This Morning" in April. "And it was not working, so we got rid of that whole thing."

'It's preposterous'

James Womack, the founder of the Lean Enterprise Institute in Cambridge, Mass., called Tesla's approach worrisome. "The chaos of how Musk is going about this makes it difficult for him to provide the standardized, repeatable work routines that allow people to function," said Womack, author of The Machine That Changed the World, which sprang from an influential study of Toyota's production techniques. "He's going to need a second tent for repair and rework."
Tell me this is a business with a future - hastily putting together hand assembly lines in a makeshift building using spare parts because they can't hit even minor production targets 6 months late, are dead broke and have nothing to spend on real capex.

this is just an amazing story.

there's new idiotic stuff happening EVERY SINGLE DAY. like every rational board would've kicked their CEO out the door first thing for any of the stuff that's going on here on a daily basis. but they can't, because first, he's put them there, and second, without him, people will stop throwing their money on this flaming pile of ****.

forget enron, forget aol/time warner, 15 years from now, this is THE business/investment school case for everything you can do wrong.

i had already forgotten that just a few weeks ago they flew a whole factory line across the atlantic. that's millions down the drain because they are just so unbelievably bad at everything. and that was supposed to fix everything. nothing is fixed. this is getting worse and worse.
