dc_publicus - 98% is easy, great for drones but not good enough for driving. Tesla are ****ing up even this 98%, which shows shocking incompetence. Also, lol @ 25mph.

It's the 99.5%, 99.9, 99.99% and higher speeds which is where the difficulty is. One of the issues with hardware is that high speed, high resolution, high dynamic range cameras don't exist right now at reasonable prices, nor does the processing power to stitch them all together (it's just becoming available), but all three are needed for the final 2% at normal driving speeds.

The liar and fraud, Musk, once again lies to everyone:
Quote:
The National Transportation Safety Board told Tesla Inc. on Wednesday that the carmaker was being removed from the investigation of a fatal accident, prior to the company announcing it had withdrawn from it, according to a person familiar with the discussion.

NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt relayed the decision in a call to Tesla’s Elon Musk that was described as tense by the person because the chief executive officer was unhappy with the safety board’s action. NTSB is expected to make a formal announcement in a release later today, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The unusual move followed public statements by the company blaming the driver in the fatal accident, in violation of agency protocols. The NTSB guards the integrity of its investigations closely, demanding that participants adhere to rules about what information they can release and their expected cooperation. These so-called parties to investigations must sign legal agreements laying out their responsibilities.

Tesla, in a statement issued late Wednesday, suggested the company chose to leave the probe.
Tesla stock not happy about this today

Lol what a dumb PR response.

The "rationale" is actually really simple: the press cares a lot more about Tesla than about any other boring brand that's been around forever.

Musk is truly nerd-Trump, right down to the PR. The calculus here is the same - it's the true believer base that matters, and as long as Tesla is putting forward a narrative that other people are at fault, that they're ok, the everything is going to be hunky dory (you just wait!), then the base stays faithful. Religions and cults do the same thing.

This may seem unhinged (like Trump seems unhinged to unintelligent people), but there's a clever calculus and understanding of human nature behind it.

Look at the clucks in this thread, repeating Musk spin, believing Musk spin, taking Musk's side on the benefit of the doubt when no rational person would given the hard evidence. He had the entire press corps and analysts base fooled on Tesla's autonomous driving and their future in autonomy, when the evidence was always overwhelming that they were far behind if you actually looked at it. As long as you keep giving these people a narrative, no matter how farcical, they continue to shill for you, buy/hold your stock, etc. It's a kind of true believer Stockholm Syndrome.

Just to be clear, for the stupid (politics forums regulars, I'm looking at you), that's not me. Probably some dentist. As an aside, what kind of clown plops down $70K for a used car with 40K miles when you can get a new one for $100K?

oh okay. I am following the Tesla thread because I do see self-driving cars as the future, though I don't know about it as a stock pick.

Prediction: Automakers in the future are going to make household robots.

I don't understand the financial aspects, but I see the science of artificial intelligence used in self-driving cars being used to make household robots in the future, and automakers are going to jump on board with it. Everyone will want a Rosie (from the Jetson's). If Tesla doesn't go under it can be in position to bring a Tesla Rosie and be first to market. It could be a Honda Rosie, or something else. But this technology is going to be hot. Automakers are going to want in. And, they're going to start to capture this new market. Predicting when is challenging, because it's hard to know how much more artificial intelligence the market wants.

Sorry to derail.

No. Amazon, Google, the Chinese, hell even Apple, have a massive lead over Tesla in AI.

No. The market is not the limiting factor, the technology is.

We're rapidly approaching peak cuck here. I may have to quit my Musk watching if he keeps this up:
Quote:
Telsa's (NASDAQ:TSLA) Elon Musk agrees the company is relying on too many robots to make the Model 3, tweeting "Yes, excessive automation at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. Humans are underrated."

The Model 3 assembly line is widely regarded as one of the most robotics-driven anywhere, and Musk tells a CBS interviewer that robots have slowed production in some cases.
This is the same deranged loser who claimed

- He could outdo the GM/Ford/Toyota in production lines
- He was building an "alien dreadnought"
- "The machine that builds the machine"
- Air friction around the robots was going to matter, they were moving so fast
- "Fully Self Driving" coming "3 months maybe, six months definitely"
- "Stepped exponential" production going to 5000/week M3 by the end of 2018

Amid literally hundreds of other lies and failed predictions.

When is Spurious et al going to wake up and smell the coffee? At same point even the most deranged idiot must realize they've been conned, and were hilariously advocating for a conman and fraud and liar in defiance of the ample facts?

He will achieve all of this, it's just going to take him longer. You are getting increasingly mad that the stock is just not doing what you want it to do.

You live in lalaland where you are somewhat right on the stuff you are saying. Dude, get a grip, you had problems differentiating mass production from batch production. This isn't your playing field.

The piece of the puzzle I don't understand, is how are there fund managers at ballie, fmr, trowe that are holding billions of equity right now. What is driving them to prop this up?

I highly suspect Q1 results will be a bloodbath, given how desperately Musk has been trying to spin the narrative beforehand. Even to the point of possibly violating Reg FD rules:

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-t...-idUSKBN1HK1SK

Anything to keep the stock price up until earnings I guess. If working capital stays negative in the Q1 results, with the Moody's downgrade I suppose the suppliers are going to pummel Musk hard for cash on delivery.

The stock is doing exactly what I want. At $260 on the 3rd of April I am quoted as saying I sold puts and am holding them.

You just make **** up, weird rationalizations (I'm mad the stock's not going down! Thats why he's bashing my cult leader!), and then pretend it's reality. People like you are how cults survive.

Dude, I sold puts. I know you don't even trade - you're some unwashed mature age uni student -but selling puts makes me long Tesla and believing there wasn't much immediate downside risk at $260. Understand? No? Of course you don't. Even that simple concept goes right over your head.

I am right on the stuff I'm saying about Tesla - autonomous driving, production deadlines, Musk's skill. That's settled in the mind of most readers at this point. The only people you have on your side are SenorKeed and Mihkel, a loony zero content troll and a caustic mental midget. Need I say more?
